Yup... and all the info for the day is in that thread. It morphed from ST holders only to open.
So ... if you were NOT a ST holder, why would you read a thread titled ST Holder BBQ? Just sayin' ....

Diggs: "Just talking to the guy, you're like I run through a brick wall for this guy. I love Coach Edsall."

Great video. I've said it before, but there's a really good energy with this team.
Agreed, great vid. Thought the freshmen had to sing the fight song, though. No?

Usual Question At UConn: Can Offensive Line Offer Any Protection?

>>Junior center Ryan Crozier returns after missing the spring while injured. Senior Trey Rutherford is in the mix at left guard after bouncing around last season. Matt Peart spent all of last season at left tackle as a redshirt freshman. There is a chance a couple true freshman could make an impact on this year's line.

Robert Holmes, who has been working at right guard, is an intriguing prospect at 6 feet 3, 351 pounds, though like several players he has been asked to lose weight. The depth at each position could be filled out by inexperienced players. That can be tricky.

"You don't just say, 'Hey, I play on the offensive line,' and then you're a great offensive lineman," Grimes said. "You don't just throw them in the grease and fry them up and use them. You've got to put them in the oven and bake them a while."<<

My fearless forecast for Holy Cross two deep:

I think DeGeorge and Leone will be the opening day new blood.

I've been really excited about Leone since he was signed (one of the few great things that Disastro did). If he and DeGeorge are good enough to crack the starting lineup right away, them I'm feeling even better about my undefeated prediction!

Good rundown but Tommy Hopkins will start vs Holy Cross.

I thought the most telling sentence of this piece was that several on the OL have been asked to lose weight. Quicker, more mobile is what they are looking for now. LONG overdue. Props to the staff for recognizing that.

Hartford Courant - 08/03/2017 digital edition

A couple of the youngins'were listed at 330lbs+.

There are very few linemen who can effectively play at that weight at any level. The chances of a frosh/soph coming to college and carrying that much "good weight" is almost zero percent. The chance of a player coming to college and carrying that much good weight AND coming to UConn? Less than zero.

Pro and college football are going back to 310-320 lbs for most of their linemen. And that is a weight attained after 3-5 years of proper conditioning and nutrition.

Wasn't yesterday suppose to be scrimmage 1 or today? Hopefully some player parents have some tidbits to share.

Our OL will improve just by getting coached on fundamentals. We were too high and got stood up routinely. We had guys coming in untouched seemingly every other play. That's not going to happen on a RE coached team. I'm hopeful that there will be a big an immediate jump.
