For a pitch to contact guy, Enzo seems to get an awful lot of strikeouts. As Jones said, 88 isn't normally overpowering but looks like 98 after a couple of loopy curves.

Top 3rd, UConn with a lot of traffic on base, even with Stock getting picked off 1B for the second out. Huskies strand two runners on base. 3-0 UConn.

Enzo with another clean inning.

This reminds me of the last UNF game. We jumped all over them after embarrassing them Friday and Saturday...and sort of let them hang around. Let's see if we can finish them off over the next couple of innings.

In the game I went to against Louisville, he had them so off balance. Guy has a huge range of velocities. Tough to hit.

In my mind, contrast is the name of the game when it comes to pitching, contrast in speed, location, variety of pitches, plus control. This is pretty much ignored these days in MLB in favor of flamethrower pitchers who throw everything hard.

Top 4th, UConn bottom of the order goes down in order. 3-0 UConn.

What are these between inning events for FIU?

"It's the event everyone hates but we're gonna do it anyway" ??!?

Haven't been able to l;isten to any games yet this year. What is the reasoning behind Smith starting over Fedko at 2nd? Smith's average is only at .237 and from what I have seen his defense has been average.

Bottom 5th, a leadoff double for FIU. Stefanoni strands the runner to end the inning. 3-0 UConn.
So spoiled by Chris Jones. The FIU streaming announcers were so excited about the lead-off double you would have through they went ahead…

I would say the UConn coaching staff views Smith as a significant upgrade in terms of defense and speed over Fedko. Suspect Smith's offense will pick up, but we'll see about that.

Top 6th, Casey Dana with a leadoff single, but nothing else doing for the UConn offense. FIU's Carbarcas has settled down, but he is also at 88 pitches, so I doubt he will be around much longer. 3-0 UConn.

Bottom 6th, Stefanoni with a 1-2-3 inning with 2 more strikeouts, 10 on the game, and with 0 walks. 3-0 UConn. Stefanoni at 85 pitches.
FIU announcer on Stefanoni that inning… “it looks like a ball till it isn’t”

Top 7th, after the Padilla homer, UConn loads the bases with no outs, FIU misplays a bunt trying to get the speedy Korey Morton at 3B, who had reached on a bunt single and had stolen 2B. Stock hit by a pitch brings in a run to make it 5-0 UConn.
