Polonia totally loses his control in the 10th. They can't hit him, but it doesn't matter when he can't get the ball over the plate.

Which poses the question. Why the IW after he just struck a guy out. Took him out of his rythm and not necessary.

The issue isn't Polonia, even though it wasn't his best game. The issue is that they scored one run. We can't win if we don't score. It makes me wonder if Penders teaches situation hitting. Every single time there's a man on second, regardless of how many outs, they take massive hacks and strike out. Shorten up the swings and poke it to opposite field. It's that simple.

Same lineup. We could be in for another long one

Lambrecht, Krueger, and Stefanski are all hurt, and Malandro's redshirting. I think that Susi and Buckley were our only two available bench players in game one. The team is sorely lacking in quality depth among position players.

He should move Daniello to 2, Willy to 4, Joe to 5 and remove Aaron. This puts more speed at the top of the lineup, moves contact in your rbi spots, allows Joe to see more fastballs and no automatic out at the bottom of the lineup

I think those minor moves would make a big difference.

Penders took Hill out of the lineup for a few games around the time of the Santa Barbara series, which moved Willy Yahn to 2B. After losing a few games with that lineup, I think Penders decided he much preferred Yahn playing 3B (where he is much improved) and decided to live with Hill at 2B.

Aaron isn't even a good fielder. He takes some of the worst at bats I've ever seen, its like hes never done it before. He's has a below average fielding percentage and if you go to the games you'll see he makes routine outs look difficult. Penders is willing to play a horrible bat and average defense rather than an above average bat and average defense. Connor has been slumping lately, but still puts up better at bats and with seeing more live pitching should be able to get into a grove again.

We think alike baseball guy. I have been questioning Penders ability to teach basic fundamentals for awhile now. Seem to make same mistakes year in and year out no matter who the players are.

From what I've seen, they teach hitting incorrectly. Everybody, except Susi and Buckley, has a practice swing where they chop at the ball. You must swing on the same plane as the pitch coming in, keeping the bat in the hitting zone longer. This will lower the margin for error resulting in more line drives/hard hit balls.

First pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. No changes in the Husky lineup after the length delay:

East Carolina puts across a run against Tim Cate in the bottom of the 3rd for a 1-0 lead. Meanwhile the Husky bats have been quiet.

Offense, calling our offense. Feel bad for the pitchers right now.

Aside for the trouble for Cate in the 3rd inning, he has been fine. 1-0 East Carolina lead after 5 innings. As we've said before, the offense needs to step up.

I'm not the one to defend our offense, but I'm at the game, and this kid throwing against us is legit.

After 6 innings, still 1-0 East Carolina. 10 strikeouts for Tim Cate.

Tim Cate. This kid is the real deal. With the 1-2 punch we have we could be a real dangerous team come tournament time if we had any type of consistent offense.

Ah, a Husky rally in the 7th. Toppa doubles in a run to tie it up.

We found offense! And we finally are the beneficiary of some cheapies

Bases loaded, two out, Aaron Hill up, two straight wild pitches give the Huskies two runs. Aaron Hill then walks. East Carolina changing pitchers.

Top of the 7th ends with UConn leading 3-1. As I would expect, Tim Cate still pitching.
