Wills Montgomerie is the one positive to take out of this game. Wills struggled a bit early in the game, and then all signs were pointing to a classic Montgomerie flame out of totally losing his cool when he started the 4th inning with a hit by pitch, a home run, then another hit by pitch. At that point I didn't think Wills was going to last much longer. The bullpen was warming up, and probably one more runner on base reaching base on him would have had him heading towards the bench. To his credit, Wills regained his composure and retired the next 12 hitters, and I believe he set a personal record by going 7 innings. Since in the past Montgomerie doesn't usually regain his composure, that is a big thing and a good sign of progress by him.
