Pardon the pun, but this feels like a complete layup. Football & M/W Basketball Series need to get signed.Nice. Now do basketball.
More baseball too… we’ve had Virginia, Miami, Duke, UNC and BC in recent years.Pardon the pun, but this feels like a complete layup. Football & M/W Basketball Series need to get signed.
I'm pretty confident that you've been around long enough to remember when Iowa (Hawkeyes) were on our schedule for a home and home. That was done as a favor by Ferrentz (the games were never going to be played) to add a bit of credibility to our future schedules, giving us a bit of bargaining power to fill out fill schedules over many years. Not scheduling them is one thing.
Scheduling them and getting the home game on the calendar and then pulling the plug two years out is bullshit
This is likely a replacement for that cancellation, Ole Miss probably canceled because the SEC will be moving to a 9 game conference schedule at some point. I’m sure we’re ok with it too, Duke gives us a P4 game we have a much better chance at winning. Feel like there’s been a greater emphasis on scheduling for success these next 4-5 years, creating a schedule that gives us the best chance at winning lots of games - no more buy games, lots of regional G5 we should win, and some low level P4 H/Hs (but not too many). Much improved and more balanced from when we first became an Independent, Mora and Benedict are finding the sweet spotIs this why the Ole Miss series got canceled?

->The expanded series includes two additional games beyond the previously announced four-game agreement. The Huskies will travel to Durham on September 11, 2027, followed by Duke's return visit to East Hartford on October 14, 2028. These games will replace a previously announced two-game series with the University of Mississippi that has been canceled. <-
They canceled because we dont have an on-campus stadium...I'm pretty confident that you've been around long enough to remember when Iowa (Hawkeyes) were on our schedule for a home and home. For all we know the Ole Miss game was something similar. At the time that it was announced did their visiting the Rent make any logical sense? If nothing else I'm sure having that home game on our schedule for as long as it was there had to help a little with getting other schools to complete scheduling agreements with us.
It is interesting that we are only getting ACC teams scheduled. Not sure why we can't get a Cincy or WVU on the schedule. IMO, they're not much higher in the food chain than the ACC teams we're scheduling.we need to get some big 12 teams on the books

Yes. And I don’t think it’s a coincidence that these P4 are largely ACC games. This is likely a replacement for that cancellation, Ole Miss probably canceled because the SEC will be moving to a 9 game conference schedule at some point. The ACC has never been pro-active. Except when it destroyed the BE.The ACC should face reality and accept that they are losing teams in 3-5 years. Bring in both UConn and USF now at a steeply graduated rate. Let both programs improve by playing better competition and maintaining consistent schedules. When realignment occurs you are not scrambling to replace 2-4 teams. You already have 2 vetted teams in house.
ESPN was and still is the puppeteer behind it all.The ACC has never been pro-active. Except when it destroyed the BE.

We are all being quiet for the most part because we know the drill but…..we are scheduling a lot of ACC schools and our recruiting is looking like it has taken another big leap this offseason. Why? I don’t know.
Yep. Meanwhile, the men’s basketball team is playing 3 Big 12 teams this year, BYU, Kansas and Arizona. Not sure if that means anything, but interesting nonethelessYou don’t schedule schools for the conference you might be going to. We aren’t scheduling any Big 12.

The Ole Miss cancellations represented swagger lost. UConn wasn't good enough for them. The OOC scheduling seems to have switched models. They want true challenges now. Even stretch goals if possible.I wasn’t implying an ACC invite. I was saying we are getting a lot of good home and homes scheduled with ACC schools and we are recruiting well. It seems like we have some newfound swagger and appeal on multiple fronts.

Absolutely not. That thinking is like the farmer who entered his mule in the Kentucky Derby. Didn’t expect to win but thought he might benefit from the company. The Ole Miss cancellations represented swagger lost. UConn wasn't good enough for them. I was looking forward to traveling there as well for a UConn game. Regardless of the outcome. The Grove is on my bucket list.
