No surprise here given we've been looking for a game on that day

We’re looking for a game on the 23rd? Where’d you see that?

that’s encouraging news because having 1 game in 24 days is not ideal.

At least DePaul doesn't have the rabid fan base that we have. Can you imagine?

.-.
St. John's on 12/23 makes the most sense to make up that game. After playing tomorrow the Johnnies don't play until 1/2 because of Nova being too soft to play on 12/30 (yet Nova will play a meaningless game vs St. Joe's today but can't play a conference game next week, but I digress).

DePaul comes here on 12/30, would make sense to play them on 12/27 or 12/28 in CT also maybe? DePaul loses a home game but do home games really matter without fans? If they have to travel anyway, might as well do both games at once...

Also unsure what the state is doing when the CDC says 10 days is the new magic number...all for keeping the players as safe as possible but what's the point of listening to a 14-day CDC timeframe when they updated it to a 10-day...

Thank you to the Connecticut Department of Health for looking out for our student-athletes. You can never be too safe.

Not terribly upset. With how much of a dumpster fire the Depaul program has been this year, I'm fine moving that game to another time until they get their act together.

I mistakenly thought Butler could be an option, but they are playing on 12/23. St. John's is not. Them playing at Gampel makes the most sense.
Yep the good thing about the way the big east is structured is that there are 11 teams so a team is gonna get left off every weekend and weekday slate. So for this year whenever a team has Covid shutdown there should be a free team without a game during that window. For next week that team is St John’s and with our first game with them being postponed it just makes sense to have them fill in

So everyone in the DePaul program is testing negative and due to 14 day quarantine period that CT has in place (no longer backed by the CDC) we cancelled this game. What.a.joke.
The game would not be within the CDC's new 10-day recommended quarantine given their pause began December 14. With three consecutive Covid pauses, that program needs to shut down for two weeks and quit screwing around.

Love Hurley but shocked he is seemingly giving into no game on the 23rd. This would mean that we would play 1 game in 24 days. This puts us extremely behind the teams we want to compete against for the top of the BE this year. It turns into a disadvantage...for the rest of the year...

Agreed, Not sure why we don't try and reschedule 2 of the games we missed for the 23rd and 27th. Admittedly, I have not looked at all other 10 teams schedules to see if scheduling two games works with other schedules.

I don't think Hurley does want to go along with this. I think it's powers greater than him not allowing us to play. The coaches players and fans almost all certainly want to play. Especially knowing that DePaul is just rescheduling with another team.

I mean if it’s not the 23rd it’ll be the 27th it looks like. Why does it matter when the game is during that window? If anything it gives our guys more practice time

You see why I can’t for UConn this year. It has to do with the state of CT not Uconn itself.

Hurley has also been very vocal indicating that he believes practice time is “more important” for game improvement then actual games.

But at this point, it’s not practice these guys need. It’s actual games. 2 games this week would be a great start. Hell, Nova is actually requesting a BREAK for all the games they’ve played. If we want to compete, IMO, it’s games needed at this point. We’ve missed the whole start to the season.

It is peak Connecticut to insist on this while at the same time still refusing to report Covid data on weekends. I’m pretty sure the only state/territory with a worse Covid Tracking Project data grade than CT is American Samoa.

To quote Iverson, "Practice...we're talking practice?!"

But seriously, at some point we'll hit diminishing returns and far more can be learned from game competition. I think Geno said something to this effect recently.

@4xChamps... St. John's agreed to cancel their game with Nova, and won't be back on campus until the 24th. Makes more sense why the make up game would be on the 27th versus the 23rd.
