We just walk and hit way too many batters. And it's not just our young pitchers, our veterans for whatever reason this year are struggling with it. The Creighton guy already has 4 walks. The lack of control by college pitchers is baffling. The difference this year, is our batters tend to let the other pitcher off the hook when they are struggling with lack of discipline/patience at the plate.

I believe Penders has to thread a tiny needle at this point. He needs to somehow develop pitching from here until season's end while also winning enough BE games to finish in the top three or four in the conference. Our margin for error is down to basically nothing.

Top 3rd, the UConn offense gets 2 walks leading off the inning, a 1 out infield error loads the bases. Minick hits a 2 out grand salami, 5-4 Creighton.

Ian Cooke takes the mound for UConn.

Top 4th, the UConn offense goes down in order. 5-4 Creighton.

Case in point, 7 pitch inning. Every batter I believe should take at least 1 strike in college before swinging. Pitchers are just too wild.

Bottom 4th, with 1 out Cooke gives up 2 singles followed by a double which drives in a run, 6-4 Creighton.

With 2 outs, Cooke gives up a walk to load the bases. Another walk brings in a run, 7-4 Creighton.

Chris Jones thinks Cooke may have a problem with his back, he is coming out of the game. West takes the mound.

West gets a pop out to end the inning, 7-4 Creighton.

I just don't know what more can be said. Time to watch the girls

Yup, I've been watching UConn women's basketball for many years, I started when I was a student at UConn a few years before Geno became the UConn coach.

The basketball game is at half time.

Bottom 6th, Van Emon has 2 hit by pitches and a walk to load the bases with 1 out. A double play ends the inning with no runs coming in. 11-7 Creighton.

Our team ERA is up to 6.6. It’s truly astounding how terrible our staff is this year. Presumably it’s a combination of folks not executing to their ability and the staff missing on their analysis. Although the latter has to be tempered by the fact that the players we were counting on to be our top two starters had started last year and haven’t been anywhere near that level of performance.
tough to watch. Suchy most likely done for the year too. Cooke hurt yesterday as well. Just a nightmare season for the pitching staff. 31 dudes showed up in the fall and we have 3 guys you can trust to compete on a daily basis. Pudvar, Afthim and Shaw.

I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for Cooke. That's all we got right now :(
