Very nice response. I would like to see our best pitchers soon.

I still trust Wang more than most of our pen down the line.

Chase Gardner warming up in the pen. Getting him straightened out would be big for the bullpen.

Will Lucas having a tough time at 3B tonight. Error by Lucas leaves runners on the corners with 1 out in the 5th, and Chase Gardner coming in to pitch.

Gardner wild pitch brings in a run for Coastal. Swore I heard Brass Bonanza being played on the stadium loudspeaker after the run scored. 9-7 Coastal after 5 innings.

Still a good inning. 3rd base is an issue, but I would let the youngsters develop for now...if that doesn't work, hopefully Moriarity re-enters the starting lineup with a fire in his belly.

Sigh, Gardner walks the first two batters in the 6th, no outs. Colby Dunlop coming in.

Not sure if there is a pitcher I trust less. Time to see if Dunlop can shut them down here.

Suspect we might see a revolving door at 3B until someone wins it. Langer could see time there as well. Looks like Penders wants Kyler Fedko to take over in right field, so he might not make it into that mix.

Sac fly brings in another Coastal run to make it 10-7 in the 6th.

Karl Johnson, who threw 2 scoreless innings in the first game today, is warming up.

Dunlop picks off a runner at 2B to end the inning. Chris Jones says it is another questionable call by the umpires tonight.

Nice job by Dunlop getting out of Gardner's mess, but we are running out of time.

Bottom 7th, Dunlop records a scoreless inning, the first one for a UConn pitcher in tonight's game.

If he is comfortable, I would move him to the pen full time. This has been a nice stint for him.

Assuming Simeone sticks as a weekend starter (and at this point I would think he will get a start next weekend), Dunlop still could come back as the main weekday starter. Kenny Haus did not pas any auditions today for a starting spot.

Sure hope UConn can beat Illinois tomorrow. It will be a shame if the only win this weekend was against our New England brothers while losing all three to the big boys. Kind of hoping that UConn would have saved Kiersten for Indiana, not used him against NU. UConn has 6 games against Big 10 opponents this spring, it is so important that UConn wins some of these games. Need to show that programs other than WBB can handle P5 competion.

Not sure if a 10th game of season should be considered a must win. But I would be much happier leaving this weekend at 5-5 as opposed to 4-6.

Win or lose, the return of a healthy Mason Feole is a big step in the right direction for the UConn pitching staff and the biggest thing to come out of today's game. Feole will be on a pitch count today. In the postgame interview Coach Penders was not about to broadcast what the pitch count limit would be. However, during game broadcasts the last couple of days Chris Jones has been speculating it might amount to 3 or 4 innings, depending how rusty Feole is today. After Feole, no matter what the score, expect to see a lot of CJ Dandeneau and Jacob Wallace today, as there are not a lot of innings left in the rest of the bullpen after yesterday's games. I imagine it might be possible that Will Lucas could get an inning or two out of the bullpen today.
