30th TV market in the country… sandwiched between #1 and #8. It’s plenty good.

If it was good enough it would be settled already. If people think this has anything to do with anything other than advertising math I’m not sure what to say.

If you want to improve you have to play good competition. I am not looking for meaningless warm and fuzzies. Don't have a need for them. Playing the long game.
The long game is that in a year no one will remember who we played in a bowl game but everyone will see a 9-4 record versus an 8-5 record next to our name.

While we should not count on it, it is not out of the question that one or more teams turns down a bowl bid. Many of them will lose multiple players to the draft, transfer portal and simply quitting after the regular season, and some may not want to bother with a meaningless bowl game.

Maybe I'm wrong, but wasn't it just the covid year where teams were opting out? I don't remember any opt outs since.

Occasionally teams will opt out. Especially if they are changing coaches

is that the math that says there's more participants than bowl slots and that almost all are contracted out in some way?
The post I read said 77 eligible teams for 82 spots.

That would be Miami Beach for me and about an hour drive the day of the game.
Or relax and take take the Brightline to Boca (50+ mins) about 1.5 miles from the stadium. I think a cab from there. Haven't heard about shuttles from that station. Tri-rail takes longer and further away but there may be a shuttle during certain hours. Totally timed our trip wrong we'll be there this week early next.

That was before the CFP. I can see a lot of athletes preferring to prepare for next year and not wanting to risk injury in a meaningless bowl game.

If only we were in the Orange Bowl and not the Fiesta Bowl that year.
Should have been but the college football gods had it in for the Big East at that time and especially UConn for some reason so moving them as far away as possible from CT and pairing them up with Oklahoma(16) instead of Virginia Tech(21) in the Orange Bowl was just a way of sticking it to the Big East. Stanford(7) vs Oklahoma(16) in Glendale Arizona would have been easier for Stanford fans to attend and the game would have been more interesting than the Sooners beating up the Huskies. But that's football politics for you.

Now you’re just making up conspiracy theories. The Orange Bowl got the first pick that year of a “road” team to play the Big XII host and, for the anti-conspiracy reason of it being a far better team, selected Stamford. The Fiesta Bowl had the last pick of teams qualified for the major bowls that year and got us.
