I’d rather the team have an opportunity to rise to a challenge. A G5 win won’t move the needle anyway.
I hear you, but at the same time this team had to rise to the challenge just to beat Temple and UAB. In my opinion, this year a bowl win is what’s most important for us, it doesn’t matter much to me whether that’s over a P4 team or someone like North Texas. 9-4 with a bowl win over a random G5 school would go further than an 8-5 season with a “well we only lost to Rutgers by 8” bowl loss

My only concern today is beating UMass and seeing how we look. This is a must win game given the opponent, our record and our ranking. UMass did score 3 touchdowns against Georgia. Play well on Saturday and then worry about the level of team we are playing.

All the BYers that are asking for a P5 Bowl after we have beaten 0/4 this year is hilarious. I'd hate to ruin the season with a Bowl loss like 2022

We'll be at a point where we can win those games but we aren't there yet

Winning a Bowl game > a cool matchup
I'm more in the mindset where I hope they go somewhere warm or tropical. But I would love a win. Hopefully a 9-4 season that would be amazing.

The extra practice time certainly helps the team too.

This is ridiculous. You’d rather lose to a P5 team than beat a G5?
I just don’t get it…
If you want to improve you have to play good competition. I am not looking for meaningless warm and fuzzies. Don't have a need for them. Playing the long game.

Good chance that we're staying home.
This topic came up two years ago and someone said that ESPN would create a bowl for a team like UConn if that happened. I would not worry just yet.

What I would worry about is beating UMass. I think all the fans and possibly a lot of the players are overlooking them. 8-4 looks so so so much better than 7-5 when you are begging for a bowl, and especially for a good matchup.

If there's no guarantee that we get a bowl, then there's no reason the players would/should be overlooking them if it's our final regular season game and 8-4 would look better for bowl consideration than 7-5.

Hogwash. A couple of years ago ESPN created a game for a team that qualified with no space.
