Sporting News has us in the Gasparilla Bowl against Arkansas

A low-level P4 (particularly if they avoided an SEC team) would be a solid matchup for UConn... one more bite at the get a P4 win "apple"
any P4 matchup sans the likes of FSU or Purdue would be bad for us. We have won 0/4 P4 matchups this year, what makes you BYers so confident we could beat one in a Bowl?

I wish we could get a team like WKU

Well then I guess this projection should make you downright giddy…

They are bowl games - go big or stay home. Nobody thought we’d beat South Carolina & the ole Head Ball Coach either. I’d rather take our chances and lose to a P4 team then hiccup and get beat by 6-6 G5 team (pretty sure Mora & team does as well).

I didn't say we would beat one, but we could (particularly if you factor in potential opt-outs, which I suspect would more heavily impact UConn's potential P4 opponent as opposed to a G5 team, turmoil from coaching change etc) and IMO the potential gain from having that P4 scalp and 9 wins would far outweigh the loss from finishing with the same record as they did in the Fiesta Bowl season, with another close loss.

Ultimately the version of UConn football we've seen the last month could both beat or lose to anyone bowl-eligible in the G5 or lower P4 programs. Risk/reward to me says if you can't guarantee a win and the odds are relatively close regardless, take a shot against the biggest name, that you have a reasonable chance of success against. To me, UNC at 6-6 with a coaching change, would satisfy that.

UNC only beat UVA, FSU, Wake in the ACC and also beat Minnesota. So UNC is not as good as it first appeared. I think it would still be a tall order to beat UNC but doable.

Texas Tech won 6 games in the Big 12. This would be a much more difficult game, I think.

CBS Rankings last week: UConn 68, TT 41, UNC 55

I don't care if we play a G5, we need to win a bowl game. A Big 12 or ACC win would be super-sweet.

Uhm, Id rather take our chances that we win the game lol and a G5 gives us the best chance to do that

If we win our game, get a nice little trophy and finish 9-3 I don't think you'll care how we got there

TTech would be more than we can handle. But, bring it on if that’s the draw.

For selfish reasons I'm hoping whatever bowl game we get is after December 25TH.

this is another one I am not sure we can win, but i guess we could upset UNC
UNC would be a solid matchup for Uconn & an opportunity to get a win against mid level P4. They were competitive in their 3 ACC matchups this year, but came up short by a combined 15 points. They might be an 8 or 9 pt underdog but definitely a winnable game.

Projections are never accurate unless it’s for the top 2-4 bowls for each affiliated conference.

It sure would send a clear message to the ACC if UConn beat UNC in a bowl game.

Guaranteed rate bowl is in Phoenix on Dec 26. The game is played in downtown Phoenix at the Diamond Backs baseball stadium.

Yuck. I agree with JM, I want a name opponent.
