Maybe we can post about the game's largest lead? 🤣Every time UConn has a big win, folks jump to it being the greatest team ever.
My response: UConn has had a bunch of amazing teams and a blowout is not uncommon.
(We are going to ignore that it wasn’t actually a 30 pt win.)

The tweet SUPPORTS my claim that UConn has had lots of blowouts, so this years blowouts are not unique. And certainly not sufficient to claim this years team is the greatest ever. Which has already been bandied about several times in game chats.I don’t know that they implied this was the greatest team ever
But simply noted that the PROGRAM has had the most blowout wins over other Top 25 teams vs other schools like Tennessee or SC. I think VG needs to reread the post.

None of the forwards on TASSK were as talented as Sarah and the bench wasn’t nearly as deep or had anyone with the enormous potential of Blanca.this team does not have a strong enough second guard to be among the greats. Combine ashlynn's shooting with KK's handling and toughness, put that imaginary player on the floor with azzi, blanca, serah, and sarah, and you're maybe in the same time zone as the TASSK force.
Mixing metaphors, it’s like ‘da 85 Bears, who were so connected defensively that they could have had a ham sandwich as their QB. Well, nostalgia is a nice thing. But the players today are bigger, stronger, faster and more talented than they have ever been.2000
Starters: Sue Shea Svet Swin Schuie
Bench: KJ Tamika Asjha BamBam

yeah AJ and Tamika were real scrubs off the bench. I hear they added a decently talented recruit the next year on top of that team as well. Forget what letter her name started with, though.None of the forwards on TASSK were as talented as Sarah and the bench wasn’t nearly as deep or had anyone with the enormous potential of Blanca.
The horror and shame you must feel from other fans that are psyched about the number 1 team in the nation whose average margin of victory is 38 ppg. The horror.Several comments across multiple game chats
Nutty idea: It's possible to be excited about the team without making wildly over the top statements. The horror and shame you must feel from other fans that are psyched about the number 1 team in the nation whose average margin of victory is 38 ppg. The horror.
It's like you don't know us at all.Nutty idea: It's possible to be excited about the team without making wildly over the top statements.
There’s a reason the chat room exists. People blurt out emotional comments during games that they’d never post on the board after thinking about it.Nutty idea: It's possible to be excited about the team without making wildly over the top statements.
I agree that our fellow BYers can be a bit over exuberant in their assessments BUT you linked a tweet that merely highlighted what the UConn program has achieved and made the leap to this team being called the greatest without qualifying what you meant. The tweet itself, is correct and it references the greatest program, whereas you infer and then directly attribute this blowout to some collective thinking that this is the greatest team ever, which is not what the tweet inferred. The tweet SUPPORTS my claim that UConn has had lots of blowouts, so this years blowouts are not unique. Um, just no, on UCLA, they don’t have a cohesive offensive plan so I am not at all worried about Cori. Texas though, is legit and is the second best team in the country. Yes, Vic has the moniker of “Master of Defense” and this years team has a great transition game but as we saw in their Vegas game against SC, they can be slowed down. How they can handle 7 players who can create their own shot and handle a full 9 person rotation that has very little drop off will be interesting. Texas only goes 7 deep at the moment but I expect it to be 8 by the end of the season. Harmon has finally developed a shot and can be dangerous. Booker, is an all-American and needs to be shut down. The rest of the offense is not nearly as good. This is a wonderful team, and it could well run the table all the way to the NCAAs. However if/when it gets to the last rounds, it will be up against some very strong teams. UCLA is better than last year and will try for revenge. SC is strong and will try for revenge.
Most of all, Texas has Vic Schaefer and his team is based on the same "great defense and quick transition scores" that UConn's is. I was at the UConn- MS State game, Vic's team at the time, that ended on a heartbreaking last second UConn loss. I don't know that I would want to bet against a strong Schaefer-coached team, regardless of opponent.
This is where I hide behind you and finally say it: Paige is better in perhaps every way than Sue except in one particular: on the floor team leadership.Well, nostalgia is a nice thing. But the players today are bigger, stronger, faster and more talented than they have ever been.
Sue a better on floor leader than Paige??????This is where I hide behind you and finally say it: Paige is better in perhaps every way than Sue except in one particular: on the floor team leadership.
I don't believe you mean what you say. Otherwise I'll be more than happy to bet you "even" if they match up. I do believe when teams get to FF anyone can win. But I'll bet you "even." Care to make the bet? If a core player gets hurt for either team we can back out. This is a wonderful team, and it could well run the table all the way to the NCAAs. Let me clarify: It seems to me that Sue was the best in the huddle let me knock a few heads together point guard. No Paige moves her team like a chess player like no other.Sue a better on floor leader than Paige??????
I know you meant to say basketball and not baseball.UConn has had some great teams and great players. and as usual, posters have their favorite team(s), favorite player(s) and favorite recruit(s). And the debate on these will always continue.
As for this team, I will wait until the season is over. There are another 20+ games to play. That's a lot of baseball. Anything can happen to us and our opponents.
I do think this team can bring home #13.
Vic Schaefer is no one to mess with! I believe he is currently the second best coach in Women’s Basketball! Very close between him, Kim, and Dawn, with Jeff Walz not too far behind. Shea is coming up fast as well. As far as the younglings, I would point to Molly Miller (Az State) as a future great one. I also was impressed with the Michigan coach’s adjustments when we played them. Finally, future great; Caroline Ducharme! This is a wonderful team, and it could well run the table all the way to the NCAAs. However if/when it gets to the last rounds, it will be up against some very strong teams. UCLA is better than last year and will try for revenge. SC is strong and will try for revenge.

I don't do bets, and the expression is not one that was meant to be taken literally. When someone says that, they are respecting the person they're talking about. I used to say the same thing about Pat Summit, but when it came time to predict the results of a UConn-TN matchup, I always predicted UConn, and was right more often than not. The "best ever" discussion is really all theoretical and opinions, anyway, so you're right: It detracts from the accomplishments of the team on the floor. And while it's really possible for this team to remain undefeated into the NCAAs, what happens then is anyone's guess, depending on injuries, momentum and one team having a very good or bad game at the right or wrong time. Any talk of going undefeated over the entire span of the season is really bad juju, IMHO.I don't believe you mean what you say. Otherwise I'll be more than happy to bet you "even" if they match up. I do believe when teams get to FF anyone can win. But I'll bet you "even." Care to make the bet? If a core player gets hurt for either team we can back out.
This is a tremendous team. Whether they go undefeated or not or don't win it all or not etc, they are still a tremendous team. It's a weird thread. The team is terrific. Why we want to get wrapped up in "best ever" that some "fans" say and knock down the enthuisiasm for an undefeated number 1 ranked team that on average is winning by 38ppg showing that the team is just tremendous anyway is odd. But I like to bet a little. So, if you're offering, I'll take you bet. For the record I do think Texas is the number 2 team to win it all.
