Good news, considering it's going to be 20 below zero in parts of Maine tonight/tomorrow morning. Opening day can't come too soon.
There have been a few times since I have been following UConn baseball that there has been a snow storm in Connecticut on the opening weekend. Listening to the games being played down south combined with moving the snow around makes for an interesting combination. We will see what happens this time around.

Retractable roof which stays closed during the summer ever since they changed to synthetic turf a few years ago. Temperature at Chase Field will be fine but enjoy the dry heat outside of Chase Field.
A couple of online baseball recruiting sites are reporting that High School Class of 2026 SS/RHP Amato Civitello has committed to UConn baseball.

Amato Civitello: SS/RHP, (2026) Hamden Hall, CT. 5-foot-7, 125-pound lean athletic frame. Above average and projectable in the box, Civitello had an exit velocity of 86 mph. (65.8 mph bat speed average). (23.7 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced wide stance with a smooth load, then used a small stride. Bat speed is quick, shows a loose simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. Had loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap approach. Athletic and above average in the infield, his position velocity was registered at 80 mph; has a natural clean exchange, athletic developing feet, and sure soft hands. Laterally, movements were developing and fielded the ball out front. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a high ¾ slot and a loose arm action. Clocked a 60 time of 7.38 at the event.>

LaRose was the Division I-A Player of the Year in 2022. That he stood out among such a deep group of contenders spoke to how good he was at shortstop and on the mound. He’s a strong left-handed hitter, capable fielder and able to work as a right-handed pitcher as needed. LaRose is already committed to play in college at Connecticut.
Tommy Turner, Coventry
Senior, outfielder and pitcher
He’s been a star since reaching the Little League World Series with his town team. This will be Turner’s final campaign in Rhode Island and he’s a good bet to power the Oakers on a deep playoff run. He’s a Connecticut commit with an impressive all-around skill set — strong hitter, good outfielder and a right-handed pitcher who features premium velocity.

6'9" and 225 lbs and a very smooth delivery. He will get into the high 90s as he matures. Agree that we may not see him at UConn.
Solid college baseball programs are going to have some recruits that end up going pro rather then end up joining the team. That sort of thing really doesn't bother me, it is the price you pay for having a quality college baseball team, and it shows that the team's recruiting is going in the right direction.
