Every team needs a Mavrick in the bullpen... 2024 Worchester MA RHP
UConn sure does love their lefties and they pick up another with class of 2023 Charles West from Ward Melville high school in East Setauket, New York. He stands 5-11 160 which is a healthy frame for a lefty
I’m sure Anthony Kay (and Steve Matz) are smiling.
PerfectGame.org had Gabriel Tirado in the low 200's in their Class of 2023 rankings. They now have Tirado at 117. Quite a jump.
Oops!!! Make that the high school Class of 2024 rankings.
Ryan Daniels, the UConn commit tore it up out in Long Beach at the Area Codes. The bat and athleticism stand out for this young man.
6-foot-170-pound, average athletic frame, sloped shoulders, with room for added weight gains. Body works with easy effort, smooth actions and movements. A left-handed hitting middle infielder, at the plate, has a fluid level swing through the zone, more of a pull approach. The exit velocity was up to 92 mph, hard contact in batting practice. An average runner ran a 7.0 sixty-yard dash. Defensively, the glove is soft, good flow to both directions, getting off the blocks quickly. The arm has strength to it, clocked at 80 mph, plenty of flight and carry across the diamond. Can spin it from both sides of the bag, footwork is advanced. With additional added strength game will continue to climb.
Jack LaRose is a 2024 SS/RHP, 2B with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Cumberland, RI who attends Bishop Hendricken. Recorded a 7.39 second 60 yard dash time. Medium frame and thick build. Primary shortstop with twitchy actions and a quick release. Fields out front with a funnel to the center, shorter arm action, around the bag with the throws at 78 mph. Showed the ability to drop slots, clean glove and solid round overall. Secondary right-handed pitcher with a full and clean arm action, gets under the ball at release, pushes to the plate. Switches the arm slot from high three-quarters to more of a side arm look, big change in velo between the two. Gets extended over the front side and fills up the zone. Left-handed pitcher with an even stance and high hand and back elbow set. Very whippy bat, gets the head out and stays grounded. Flat bat path, back spins balls to the pull side, going to play big in the future. Great student.
