I personally liked Siravo. I wonder what the main reason was that he had to de-commit but nonetheless, he’s a top 500 guy according to perfect game and the top guy out of NH. Could always potentially come back
I wonder if he was anticipating getting drafted and going pro (of course, that went off the rails w/ 5 rounds instead of 40) and is now going JuCo to get another shot as quickly as possible.
Or, it could be academic. Or literally anything. Whatever it is, I'm a little sad as he was a highly-regarded recruit, but wish him nothing but the best. I'm sure Penders will have a good gameplan regardless.

I would think Adrian Siravo wants to keep his options to go pro open. If he came to UConn, he would have to wait until after his Junior year to go pro. JUCO players can pretty much go pro after each JUCO season.
Obviously it would have been better with Siravo, but it looks like to me UConn has plenty of quality depth on its pitching staff for the coming season. At this point UConn has only lost Krauth to the pros, and they had plenty of good looking arms to play around with before this past season ended prematurely. Plus Ben Casparius is now eligible to play.
In regards to my class of 2020 update, I made a mistake as Joe Wozny is a class of 2021. He may have reclassified to 2021 as he is listed on Prep Baseball Report as a 2020 and a 2021 on Perfect Game. We now have 10 incoming freshman. His Instagram shows he is a 2021 high school grad
Maddix Dalena, 1B/3B, Class of 2022, from Montoursville High School in Pennsylvania.

>2/29/20 Physical: 6-foot-3, 225-pounds. Long, physical frame. 7.62 runner in the 60; 4.43 home-to-1B. Offensively: LHH. Tall, upright, slightly open stance with an even base, bat rests on his back shoulder, uses a small bat waggle on load along with a small stride for timing Fast hands, barrel clears the zone quickly, barrel plane is flat to the hitting zone and works uphill at finish. Hard contact up the middle to his pull side. 96 MPH raw exit velocity. Defensively: Smooth footwork, fields the ball off-center on his glove foot, light on his feet. Short arm swing with a low 3/4 arm slot. INF - 76 MPH.

6-foot-3, 220-pound left-handed hitter took one of the more impressive rounds of batting practice over the two days of the event, showcasing present power to the pull side and the ability to stay in the zone for long periods of time. He starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a leg-hang stride to begin his swing. Showed rhythm and balance with a solid feel for the barrel. Registered a 91 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.86 60-yard dash. Displayed capable feet and glove work around the bag at first base with accurate 76 mph arm strength across the diamond. Definite power bat to follow in this class.<
This guy is very similar to CCSU’s post draft signee TT Bowens. I love this kids size and sheer power. The 96mph exit velocity is massive considering he is only going to be a junior in the fall.

Yep - with that size and raw power, he reminds me of those of those Oklahoma State dudes we saw a couple years ago. Hopefully he doesn't strike out as much
Calvin Ziegler's twitter account is now has him listed as a 2021 high school grad. Perfectgame.com and Prepbaseballreport.com are also now listing that way as well. So it looks like UConn has lost another top pitching recruit for the coming season.
I is indeed very concerning. I think he may have taken down the post saying that he committed to the program. Still has retweeted the stuff saying that he is a UConn commit but it is definitely up in the air. Don’t want to lose him

... if people are whispering that he is projected to be a first round draft pick, unfortunately there isn’t anything UConn can do (other than the usual Penders pro/con presentation).
Unfortunately, Ziegler is not coming. He is on Both the Nottheast Area Code and East Coast Pro rosters this year which is a clear indication he is not honoring his commitment to UConn.

Happens all the time to big time programs. Big name programs like USC have been decimated because they have lost too many commits to the MLB draft with no real fallbacks. That's why it is important to get the Winkel's and Crawford's of the world and mix them in with blue collar talent.
Really hoping at least one of Siravo or Ziegler come - maybe both. Nothing in MLB can replicate the excitement of a College World Series appearance.

I would think there is still a chance Calvin Ziegler might arrive in Storrs, as you never know how the MLB draft will shake out. As for Adrian Siravo, with him going the JUCO route, I can't see that happening at this point.
2B/SS/3B Ryan Daniels has committed to UConn!!!! He’s rated a PG 9 in the class of 2022 and plays at Avon Old Farms. He’s 6-0, 170 and is a left handed hitter. Great pickup!
Prepbaseballreport has this in the comments section of their profile on Ryan Daniels:
>7/28/20
6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitting middle infielder. He ran a 6.72 sixty at the event. The approach in the infield is solid as the hands work and the feet remain active throughout the fielding of the baseball. He threw 83 mph across the diamond during the infield portion of the workout. The pivot was handled easily as he has a good feel on turning the double play. The athleticism is solid and he moves very well left to right. The bat has an exit velocity of 95 mph. The setup is is narrow and slightly open to start. The bottom half pick up and put down is simple. The hands work freely to the ball as the swing is flat and compact to contact. He showed well in both batting practice and in game play. Exit Velocity- 95 mph
INF Velocity- 83 mph

5-foot-11, 175-pound, average athletic frame. Put together well for a younger player, hands and wrists have strength to them. A left-handed hitting middle infielder, top tool is the ability to swing the bat. The approach is advanced, all fields approach with enough juice to go pull side. The stance is balanced, feet are even at the shoulders, hands are loose and relaxed, set above the shoulders. The path is level to up, hard contact to all fields, had a tee exit velocity of 83 mph and ran a 7.15 sixty-yard. Defensively, little wasted movement with quick feet in the transfer, threw 78 mph across the diamond, with average arm strength. The hands work, and can turn it from either side of the bag. Projects for me of an offensive second baseman at the higher levels.
Tee Exit Velocity: 83 mph
Arm Velocity: 78 mph
Sixty-Yard: 7.15<
PerfectGame.com has Ryan Daniels ranked at 279 for the high school class of 2022. Levi McAllister is ranked at 426. Niko Brini comes in at 500, which for Perfect Game seems to fall in the 500 to 1000 range. That is a nice start for UConn baseball recruiting efforts for the high school class of 2022.
