Men UConn Baseball and the transfer portal

Having some fun ... Note that transfer stats are inflated by relatively lower competition - but still fun to look at!

Possible batting order:

SS - Rispoli (.885, 70 hits, 19 SB)
CF - Polemeni (1.186, 14 HR, 14 SB)
3B - Minick (1.162, 22 HR, 15 SB)
RF - Wachter (1.062, 15 HR, 14 2B, 13 SB)
1B - Marshall (1.084, 15 HR, 56 RBI)
LF - Jemison (1.067, 19 2B, 14 SB)
D.H. - Thomas (1.100, 18 2B)
C - Lane (.811, 11 2B, 6 HR)
2B - Menzel (.977, .447 OBP)

(Which recruits and/or junior college transfers do we imagine compete for lineup spots early on?)

Pitching notables:

Pudvar
West
Suchy
Finn
Trumpour (3.07, 80:17 K:BB at SNHU)
Lessing (in ’24: 1.99, 76:20 K:BB, NESCAC PoY)
Hale (2.42, 92:18 K:BB, ace on the #1 DIII pitching staff in the nation)

There are a few UConn players who were on the UConn roster this past season who are still listed on the transfer portal, but who are still not listed on the above website as having moved on to another team yet. Here are those players

Jack Sullivan
Owen Norrell
Hector Alejandro - There was a post on these threads that said that Alejandro was going to stay with UConn for the coming season.

Of course, not every player who enters the transfer portal ends up leaving the team that they had been with.

This is the most turnover of a roster that I can remember for a long time. It appears the pitchers that did not perform up to expectations or at least not afraid of throwing strikes, and that included Ellison, have moved on.

16th round picks get a $150K signing bonus, even with revenue sharing and NIL that's tough to beat. Anyone drafted these days is like 99% gone
Yeah with the shorter draft teams don’t want to waste a pick on someone they aren’t pretty sure they’ll be able to sign.

I’d love as much as anyone to see Soldra in Storrs but until given reason to think otherwise I’m operating like it ain’t happening.
