Men UConn Baseball and the transfer portal

That’s a strange one. I know the staff always believed in his potential, but even last year as an innings eater we were desperate for, the performance was very very mediocre. On the other hand, I have trouble believing we pushed him out the door.
Definitely won't be a weekend starter at Georgia. Head scratcher for sure.

Gio Conte is now listed on the above website's transfer tracker as transfering away from UConn to Siena.

Devon Wolff is now listed on the above website's transfer tracker as transferring away from UConn to Fairfield.

Funny thing, the Norwich Sea Unicorn roster website still lists Gio Conte's college as UConn. However, at the game in Norwich last night, the public address announcer at Dodd Stadium in Norwich announced when Conte came into the game to pitch for Norwich that his college was Siena. I found that announcement rather amusing considering the online Norwich roster had not yet been updated. Sooner or later I am sure that the Conte's college on the roster will be updated, but as I mentioned it has not happened yet.

Two other SNHU commits:

Nater Wachter (OF) - 2 years of eligibility. Was the NE10 rookie of year in 2023. Brother of former Tulane pitcher Jonah.
Austin Trumpour (RHP) - 1 year of eligibility. 80k to 17bb in 73.1 up this season.
I just did a quick look on the internet, and I didn't find anything about him coming to UConn. Of course I imagine it is quite possible that @BaseballDog may have some other info on Austin Trumpour that I don't know about yet.
Official > @BaseballDog for the win

SNHU has been this year’s Manhattan for a transfer pipeline.

The online roster for Sanford of the NECBL has a player by the name of Charlie Hale who they list his college as being with UConn. Hale played with Endicott College as a sophomore last season, he is a RHP. It would seem he is a possible transfer to UConn.

-> “We got really aggressive in the portal,” Penders said. “It was actually fantastic medicine for the coaching staff and myself. We were told we weren’t good enough to compete for a national title, so we got busy competing for a national title in 2026 by getting really aggressive in the portal and getting some great new players and some really good energy.” <-

At the beginning of the article it claims that UConn is getting 11 players from the transfer portal. In the article I only counted 10 of these players that they named.

Numbers at D2 Pace aren't that impressive but big kid and pitching really well in summer ball for Nashua, maybe something clicked .

Having some fun ... Note that transfer stats are inflated by relatively lower competition - but still fun to look at!

Possible batting order:

SS - Rispoli (.885, 70 hits, 19 SB)
CF - Polemeni (1.186, 14 HR, 14 SB)
3B - Minick (1.162, 22 HR, 15 SB)
RF - Wachter (1.062, 15 HR, 14 2B, 13 SB)
1B - Marshall (1.084, 15 HR, 56 RBI)
LF - Jemison (1.067, 19 2B, 14 SB)
D.H. - Thomas (1.100, 18 2B)
C - Lane (.811, 11 2B, 6 HR)
2B - Menzel (.977, .447 OBP)

(Which recruits and/or junior college transfers do we imagine compete for lineup spots early on?)

Pitching notables:

Pudvar
West
Suchy
Finn
Trumpour (3.07, 80:17 K:BB at SNHU)
Lessing (in ’24: 1.99, 76:20 K:BB, NESCAC PoY)
Hale (2.42, 92:18 K:BB, ace on the #1 DIII pitching staff in the nation)
