Men UConn Baseball 2026

It is almost time for the season to kickoff. UConn Baseball dinner was last night at the Aqua Turf. Unfortunately, a much smaller turnout than last year. However, the excitement in the room was genuine and there are initiatives in place to increase the amount of scholarships UConn baseball can award. Joe D'Ambrosio did a great job as emcee as there was a panel answering questions from Joe. Pete Fatse, Matt Barnes, Anthony Kay and Ben Casparius all came out for the panel. For Ben, Anthony and Pete, spring training starts in the next day or so.

Not a ton of talk about the individual players. More about how coach and the staff have modernized some of the things they do from base running, teaching the catching position and throwing programs prescribed from a few of the major league teams. No more signs coming from coach Penders in the 3rd base box. There is a communicator on the wrist that he will send signals to. He said last year there were too many missed signs on the bases and this should help that problem as long as he doesn't screw up using the technology!!

Any thoughts on why turnout was much smaller this year?

Any thoughts on why turnout was much smaller this year?
My opinion
6 kids were sick
Roster a little smaller than last year
No ring ceremony to bring back former players

And those last 2 reasons, their parents as well

And having kids who are a plane flight away (parents attendance)

And Ted’s bought an empty(?) table

Lets go Huskies! The roster for Arizona includes 30 players that made the trip.

It seems like Marshall, Menzel, Rispoli, Dalena, and Lane might start in the infield. And then Minick and maybe Wachter as two of the outfielders? If so who is the third outfielder? Curious to hear who people think will be in the starting lineup.

Coastal Carolina
Georgia Tech
UCLA
LSU
Mississippi State
UConn
ECU

Each description features a "Player to Watch". For UConn, that's Tyler Minick.
