Men UConn Baseball 2025

I'd like to move West to #2 and Tommy,Shaw or Cooke, you pick, to 3.
I can't see moving Ellison out of the 3 slot. As mediocre as he has been, there has at least been some consistency. I think you have Cooke penned in to start a game 4, if you have one, but you don't hesitate to use him for one or two innings in game 1. As I keep saying, a game 4 (much less a game 5) will be a total crapshoot relying on guys that you absolutely can't count on to give you an inning without being skinned alive, but it is what it is.

Keep hitting. Keep scoring runs. And yeah, you have to move Shaw ahead of Ellison, and I think the time to do it is this weekend.

I'm inclined to think at this point that the coaching staff will keep the weekend starting pitchers in the same order as it has been, but we'll see what happens. Of course, injuries are always an influence as well, especially with all the injuries big and small that have happened with UConn this season.

With a strong pitching performance over the weekend, UConn's team ERA dropped to 5.61 after flirting with (and actually slightly exceeding) the 6.00 mark a couple weeks ago. Opponents team ERA versus the Huskies was over 8. Coach Penders always talks about not giving away "free 90's." In a combined 17 innings this weekend, Husky starters did not allow a single walk (although there were three hit batters) while striking out 19. Overall, the numbers weren't bad, either - 27 IP, 5 BB, 5 HBP and 29 K's. That's a little over 3 "free 90's" per game, a stat that will keep you in a lot of games and win you a large percentage of them.
