Men UConn Baseball 2025

Wow, Rob Rispoli did not play in any games last season for UConn and was redshirted. This season it seemed likely he was going to start the season on the bench, but ended up being the regular SS for UConn baseball and ended up being named to the All Big East 1st team post season honor. I doubt anyone was expecting that before the season started, but he has certainly had quite a season, that is for sure.

minick second team is laughable. I'll give you the creighton closer. But Minicks #'s are ridiculous.
100% agree!! Minick should have made 1st team. Connor Misch had 16 total XBHs for Xavier and he plays his home games on basically a Little League field. My son, who also plays in the Big East and is half Misch’s size, had 24 XBHs and matched Misch’s season HR total of four.

Big East baseball reminds me of Big Ten football….the Big Two (Creighton and UConn) and the Little Six. Just like the old Big Two (Ohio State and Michigan) and the Little Eight.

Big East baseball is so top heavy. Almost, but not nearly, as bad as Big East women’s basketball……….the Big One (guess who?) and the Little Ten.

Our conference is a joke. I know I am preaching to the choir, but this is really getting old. Contrast fan interest to that of UConn hockey (both women and men) in the always competitive Hockey East.

I enjoyed following the team this season in spite of the disappointment today.

Who will be closer next season?

See you all next season or on other sport’s boards.

Gotta think if Jack Sullivan rebounds from injury he’s @ the front of the pack?

Another pitcher who did play this season due to injury was Ben Schild, and it seems a lot of people were expecting good things from him this season. This was one season where UConn baseball had to deal with a lot of injuries, some of which kept players out the entire season or for pieces of the season. Other players on the team played in games even when they had some sort of injury that did not keep them out of games, but might have affected the way they played this season.

One thing about UConn baseball, through the years that I have followed them, is that the strength of the team on a year to year basis was usually the starting pitching. Obviously in terms of the whole season that was not the case this season.

I believe this past season the college baseball roster limit was about 40 players. Next season the roster limit for college baseball is I believe 34 players.

The following players were either Seniors or Grad students probably won't be back with UConn next season as they have used up their eligibility, I believe they were all mentioned on Senior Day on the last game of the regular season.

Padilla
Shpur
Garbowski
Biller
Root

Afthim
Cooke
Alejandro
Van Emon
Mayer

Also, Daniels was a junior this past season, and I would think there is a possibility he could get picked in the MLB draft this summer.

Overall, some pretty good players are on this list and they will likely be gone from UConn baseball next season.

If someone on the 2nd part of the list gets into grad school, they could come back. I would love it if Brady came back and I was intrigued by Mayer late in the season.

It will also be interesting who comes back from the injured players. Will we see Jack Sullivan, Ben Schild, Paxton Meyers, and others that went down early.

Suchy apparently isnt getting surgery. So we will see. Manhattan transfer Garbinski will be healthy. He's on the New Britian Bees roster for the summer.

Waiting to hear about Ellisen’s outlook as well. Wonder if he would have even been available if we made the cut.

Yup, one of the reasons I posted the above item was to show that some nice players on this season's UConn team will have used up their eligibility.
