Men UConn Baseball 2025

D1baseball.com has on its website their list of the Top 50 catchers, 1B, and 2B players for the coming season. So far no UConn players have been on these 3 lists. Oh well.

Still, I expect it to be an interesting season in a good way for UConn baseball.

D1baseball.com has now done a list of the Top 50 players at 3B. No UConn players on that list as well.

I'm expecting Tyler Minick to be at 3B for UConn this season, we will see what happens. I'm expecting good things from him this season after looking good during his freshman season.

If he does what he's capable of this year I'll bet he's top 20 on that list coming into next year.

Biggest question for me is who will step up to be their 2/3 hole stud. Who will have that OPS over .900?

D1baseball.com has now done their list of the Top 50 players at SS. Once again, no UConn players on this list.

Hopefully, things will be different when they put out the names of top pitchers and outfielders.

UConn projected as winning the Conference and Ian Cooke is projected as Big East Pitcher of the Year

-> 2025 Outlook

The last two seasons couldn’t have played out much different for Connecticut. The Huskies looked like a potential regional host only to falter down the stretch and get eliminated quickly in the Gainesville Regional in 2023. Then last year, the Huskies got their poor stretch out of the way early, opening 3-8 and were still sitting at 9-15 as they neared the halfway point, but UConn dominated conference play, going 17-4. Despite a pair of one-run losses in extra innings in the Big East Tournament, it got an at-large berth and went about upsetting someone on their home field once again, winning the Norman Regional over Oklahoma to advance to their second super regional in three years before falling to Florida State in Tallahassee.

UConn continues to be the class of the Big East with its tried-and-true blue-collar approach. The Huskies are again the frontrunner for the conference title and should be in at-large contention, if they falter in the Big East Tournament. The question comes in the postseason where the Huskies will look for their third super regional in four years and then their first trip to the College World Series since 1979. <-

The 2025 team isn't discussed until about the last 5 or so minutes of the interview.

Coach Penders mentioned that Tyler Minick just suffered an injury that could keep him out of the lineup early in the season.

From the D1 Baseball write-up:

“…sophomore Tyler Minick (.266, 9, 28) also has the potential to terrorize opposing pitchers and coaches when he returns from a broken nose and orbital fracture sustained from a hit by pitch in the preseason”

D1baseball.com has now done their list the Top 150 starting pitchers. Ian Cooke was at No. 66, and Gabe Van Emon was at No. 77.
