UConn 2026 Outbound Portal Transfers (*No transfer speculation until announced/posted*)

I also don’t care anymore about players leave to play at CSU. I feel like it’s a little hypocritical to be angry about that while we basically pillage Toledos’ roster.
Agreed, it's like a wholesale roster and coaching staff trade with some leftovers and newcomers. At least our O-Line has been fortified, the QB room is head and shoulders better than what we had for the bowl game, we got some WR pieces, and a RB - but man the TE, RB, CB, DL, and S rooms have been decimated and still need replenishing. Hopefully some of these 5 or 6 commitments that haven't announced yet address those areas.

I’d like to know where this increased NIL pot that Candle was told he’d get is going. It’s not being used on Cam, which was likely never going to happen. Our other big names have all started going elsewhere. I can’t see these Toledo kids commanding huge amounts of money because many of them want to play for their former HC. So who’s going to get the big bucks??

We have some promising TEs coming in.

Agreed definitely waiting for a few splash signings. The LB and QB from Toledo are our 2 biggest gets so far. I would think we could maybe get a key player or 2 from either Pitt or Syracuse to follow our new coordinators.

Agreed we have 2, but I believe that only makes 3 on the roster and we lost 5 in the portal, had 1 decommit and 1 to graduation.

Nope, fully comprehended your readily apparent point/question, and just tossed out a sarcastic response (/s) given Candle was hired only 32 days ago. All good, the guy and his family will live where they choose.
nope. You still don’t get it. But as you said…it’s all good.

People criticized Candle as a guy who does less with more but ironically, we might have already dealt with that with Mora based on the offers these guys are getting and the fact we also lost to Delaware and Rice 😭

He got us to where he could get us. I don’t think he was going to become a great in game coach at 65 years old or whatever he is.

Candle would probably have an explanation for why he’s done less with more sometimes. For instance, a few 4* offensive linemen aren’t going to turn an unrated QB into Joe Montana. That sort of thing. You’ve got to put all the right pieces together at the same time.

Amen. I don't wish any of them ill will, but I don't root for them either. I only root for our Huskies.
The better these kids do at other schools the better for the profile of our program. You should absolutely be rooting for them as former Huskies.

And Cam, with all he gave to this team -- you're not going to root for him? Come on.

.-.
Do other people even remember that Justin Joly played here outside of NC State fans? And they’re not looking out of respect, they were licking their chops at Juice transferring back when they hadn’t even used him while he was there.

I’m not wishing ill on him, I’m just saying that once you leave the program even if it is an upgrade or it makes sense, the hands come off. Edwards doing well at MSU does nothing for us, they reap all of the benefits. He gave a lot to the team and I appreciate it, but he’s not here anymore after we supported him. Call it selfish on my end but it’s my honest take.

Ok so I’m just going to say it. Seeing where all these guys are ending up makes me a little more pissed with Mora leaving. We clearly still had a really talented team that needed to replace a QB and WR which can both be gotten in the portal. Obviously they aren’t going to be Bell amazing, but with the supposed increase in NIL budget, we could get a decent pair. A lot of the other pieces were here still. Now we watch them go and hope we can piece something together. Sorry, just thinking of how much progress we were finally making and now the thought of seeing us take a step back, hoped a little one and then we move forward, because the entire two deep left, is a little disheartening.
Losing anyone on our defense is not a big deal, they were not good

Who? I mean, does he start? Never heard of him....
I was thinking along the same lines... Didn't even see this kid play a snap and he commits to Duke? So I looked up his offer list on 24/7, apparently his only FBS offers were us, and the 3 service academies.

The fact every service academy offered him makes me think he's likely a smart kid. Perhaps this is one of those signings to boost academic performance markers? Like overall team GPA, grad rate etc? He was a 2* recruit according to 24/7 so I doubt they're signing him for his football acumen.

Regardless, best of luck to him

Could also just be that his brother is on roster and they’re hoping he comes in and gives same productivity

Why would you say that? We beat them this year so taking anyone from our roster may be considered an upgrade. It could be they are looking for intel. Duke MBB has never visited Storrs. Maybe they want someone familiar with the area in the event they ever play an OOC road game.

He has a brother who plays there

I'm surprised you haven't heard of him. He played in all 13 games and 235 special teams snaps so he was a solid contributor at UConn. Duke probably sees him as a special teams/depth player who will not get a large check and you need guys like that on a 105 player roster.

I don't agree with your first line. I don't think many will draw a line from MSU back to UConn. I think seeing players go to P4 schools from UConn will give high schoolers and portal players with multiple years left something to think about when we offer. I'm not sure the player's success does much unless they transcend things a bit and really stand out.
As for Cam, I appreciated what he, and others in his shoes, did for us while they were here, but they chose to leave for whatever their reason. Maybe a bad analogy, but did you root for your ex girlfriend to meet a great guy and do well? Probably not. Cam divorced UConn, and that ends my relationship with him. As I said, I only root for current Huskies. Also, Cam "giving" was not a one way street. We gave him opportunities and he probably made some decent NIL money, so UConn gave to him while he was giving to UConn. If AI is correct, he was also considering CCSU & URI in addition to UConn. It was good business for both sides.
