Thanks, I missed that.He was on the UConn staff last season: Trey Mora - Football Coach - University of Connecticut Athletics
Michigan State finished 1-8 in the B1G, better than only Purdue. I am genuinely interested if our players will be able to compete against that competition and materially improve the team. This sucks. Why is it always Michigan State?
If he does get drafted, will be for Michigan states benefit and not ours, though he did the lions share of his development here.As sad as I am to see him go, I'm really happy he gets a chance to prove himself at a B1G program. Hope he and Big Ben kill it there next year and both get drafted

Do we get to put his name on our nfl wall? Will Mel kiper mention UConn during his highlights? Michigan state gets all of it, for almost none of the work.
Sucks.
I think you are missing my point/question. People were pointing out that Candle is more committed to UConn than Mora was because Mora never resided in CT. My question was..are we sure Candle has taken up residence in CT? I wasn’t questioning him either way…just pointing out that I don’t think we even if he has moved to CT, yet we are giving him credit for it.Bought a home in about 30 days since being hired? The Candles with kids potentially still in school in Ohio?
Whoa Nellie, suspect it’s unlikely Mrs Candle busy with 3 young children, managing a household and move prep in OH, and a coach sort of busy with keeping and recruiting players, adapting to new environs, and being a dad at a distance search for and close on an out of state home in a month. /s
I don't have any inside information myself. But what I will tell you is that in early November someone I know and trust was told that Mora was on his way out and they were working on his replacement. At the time I dismissed it and thought that they must of heard the other person wrong. However, it clearly seems that this was not a surprise to those in the know at UConn despite the shock it took most of us for when it came down.I don't believe that DB had any input, nor did he have any prior knowledge of JM looking at CSU (or any other school).
I do however believe that JM was a little miffed that DB wasn't overly bothered the news and didn't push to keep him here.
Amen. I don't wish any of them ill will, but I don't root for them either. I only root for our Huskies.I wish I could share your positivity, but I’m honestly not gonna pay attention to transfers once they go to another school as much as I’ll miss Edwards. Hands go off when you leave imo
Unfortunate. He was here four years, got his degree and was an absolute warier. He fully earned the right to do whatever he wants with his redshirt year. I'll miss him, and may or may not care how he does going forward, but assuming this is about a big check good for him.If he does get drafted, will be for Michigan states benefit and not ours, though he did the lions share of his development here.

I'd still love to know why he didn't start and why he only got 1 carry in the 2nd half?????Cam stayed with us for the bowl game and actually played fully and at least finished the season for us. Will definitely be rooting for him the most of the transfers. I do wonder how much more NIL offers he got by playing in the bowl game.
It's weird times we're in right now. It is gross to see one of our own leave and play for another program IMO.
I didn't even notice him being out of the game till midway till the 3rd quarter. At that point I don't think pulling Cam out of the game was egregious.I'd still love to know why he didn't start and why he only got 1 carry in the 2nd half?????
It happened on one of the playoff games and was explained. The "no grounding if you're outside the pocket and throw it past the line of scrimmage" rule only applies to the person who received the snap from Center (presumably the QB). If someone who didn't take the snap from Center throws a pass, it goes back to the old was there a receiver in the area rule. Because the only purpose of allowing someone to intentionally throw the ball away and not be penalized was to prevent QBs from a hit.I didn't even notice him being out of the game till midway till the 3rd quarter. At that point I don't think pulling Cam out of the game was egregious.
Crazy thing is Rosa had a 6 yard run on the first play then the stupid pre planned trick play with Bell which shouldn't have been intentional grounding but it deserved to be called intentional grounding because it was a dumb play call.
Nope, fully comprehended your readily apparent point/question, and just tossed out a sarcastic response (/s) given Candle was hired only 32 days ago. All good, the guy and his family will live where they choose.I think you are missing my point/question.
Hope it won’t be Michigan St!Mora was a true professional. Probably the first one we have had on the sideline this century. He helped us and we helped him.
But let's make this clear. Football is his profession. Hiking in the mountains is his love. Benedict knew this. The Rockies or Sierras were always in his future. Anyone surprised by Mora leaving wasn't paying attention. He made the first decent parallel move that got him to 5,000 feet above sea level. Break ups in college coaching are always messy. This was no different.
Candle will get his honeymoon. Even red pants had one. But if you want to see the future. Candle is a midwestern guy. He likes his land flat. Success at UConn makes a move to Michigan State or Purdue much easier. Otherwise he could have been a Toledo lifer. We can get all upset if the B10 comes calling and he goes. But that will only come with UConn success and I for one would enjoy that immensely.
Not buying your Jersey any longer.Darn, oh well RBs are easy to get and develop. Just needs a O-line
we could’ve retained more than what we currently have.
Sorry Biz,If you have any inside information and would like to share it, I’m all ears and ready to have my beliefs changed. Otherwise, the speculation is absurd unless you think DB is an idiot, which I certainly do not. Mora took over a program that had become as pitiful as UMass over 11 seasons under 3 different coaches. Without a competent QB on the roster (with the possible exception of one and one half series over the course of a season) he managed to turn the program around into 6-6 with a schedule that required wins against a P-4 team for the first time in a decade, a Fresno State team that won the MWC and beat a P-4 team in its bowl game and a ranked Liberty squad coming off a win at an SEC school. After a bad year (still a good year by recent UConn standards) in which we lost our QB in game 2, he then put together 8-4 and 9-3 regular seasons, going 12-1 at home during that span, and won 3 of our last 4 against ACC opponents (1 on the road and 1 at a neutral site). All this while attendance was showing substantial rebounding.
The only thing DB would have been asking himself is how long can I keep Mora before retirement or he leaves. Do I think he’s such a great game coach that he was going to take this program to a ranked level? Absolutely not. Am I saying he was the right guys for Oregon or UW? No, I didn’t say that. But he was succeeding on a high level that no one would have thought possible the day he came here and still hadn’t had a chance to play guys he recruited out of high school for their redshirt senior seasons.
