Our SOS has been at just about the bottom of FBS the last two years. What we’ve accomplished here is not too different from what Toledo’s been doing the past decade.Never said it was a problem, just caging my expectations on who we would be getting in the TP. I love it that he got to 11 wins in 2023, and 2017. My thought was that we were trying to get a P4 invite, not mirror a MAC team that went 16-10 the last two years. But as I said, just trying to cage my expectations on transfer portal gets.
This is nitpicky, but this is what we do here at the Boneyard. Comparing Mora to RE1 is apples to oranges. RE1 was recruiting in a power conference, in a time before NIL, when teams were almost entirely built from high school recruits.Umm, what? If Coach Candle was recruiting guys that enabled his team to never have a losing season during his time as coach, then what is the problem? Our ex-coach didn't recruit as well as RE1, but he deftly navigated the portal to fill the gaps. If HCJC2 can recruit and build through the portal, then who cares if it looks like we're Toledo East, as you put it. He got his team to 11 wins in 2023! Can you imagine how freaking crazy this fanbase would be to reach 11 wins?
LOL. IF (and it hasn’t happened yet) a bunch of our DL guys end up getting P-4 spots AFTER other staffs have seen their film, in a sane world it would make Boneyarders ask if the defenses’s struggles were really attributable to the DL as the Boneyard determined. But this is the Boneyard, so that type of self recognition is really doubtful.Wish nothing but the best for all the departing guys, but when it comes to the P4 interest in DLs it's perplexing. Maybe they can attribute 122th vs. rush to scheme?
Everyone needs a niche. We now have expert predictions on players in the portal?
There were some good players on the defense, but the DL was not good and certainly not as good as the previous year. To get pressure on the QB, Brock had to rush 5 or 6 guys which is a high risk/reward strategy, but it left the DBs at risk. And, the DBs were undersized last year which lead to poor tackling. The starting CBs last year averaged 184 lbs and the starting Ss averaged 187 lbs. In comparison, Toledo's starting CBs averaged 198 lbs and starting Ss averaged 207 lbs.Picking up players from the 2025 UConn defense is dubious at best.
No idea what scheme departing DLs played in before UConn but it is plausible they could contend they're more effective run defenders in 4 man front instead of 3-3-5 and might have video to prove it.LOL. This too -
Victor posted another similar X but I can't share anything related to the other program on principle. I guess it would be good for him though (77-74)
Very douchey, at best. Seems petty.I think the kids are doing what's best for them but this is a bad look from a former coach.
