Robinson could very well be looking for a situation where he'll be the feature back instead of being part of a stable of backs.

I'm far from thrilled with the idea of losing a talented (and by all reports very good) kid but thos may very well work out for him without hurting us. I hope that's what happens.

It’s just the reality of college athletics, especially football. Thankful our offensive line let him run wild all year.

Rosa, Edwards and Brown plus at least one transfer is all we need. <insert no speculation overwrite>
Maybe Robinson changes his mind. It's not like that hasn't happened before in our recent past.

It's good news. Mora gets talent out of guys that got recruited to Charlotte and they move on. We will find more players from Random State University and get them to help us in the short-term and themselves in the long-term.

That's just spin. It's never good news when talent leaves for something other than the NFL.

Talents like Robinson leaving are exactly why there should be no "building for the future" when it comes to game day QB selection in the transfer portal / NIL era. If you build someone up there is a decent chance they will leave, the only goal should be to win as many games as you can each season and then reload, "building for the future" is a thing of the past. Rosters are in too much flux these days to think beyond the current season and as a G5 our top talent is easily taken.

100% Correct

I'm wondering if some of the new NIL deals will include a contract for x # of years, locking a kid into a school.

They will then not be required to go to class/get good grades. A contract means employee.

It's ok to be sad when one of the best talents on your roster leaves with 3 years of eligibility. Stop lecturing people.
Not lecturing. Just the reality of the NIL era. We can ALL make a difference by supporting NIL. It’s called Bleeding Blue for Good. Being sad is a waste of energy. Giving is not.

The contract wouldn't be with the school. If I had millions, I'd offer x dollars to a player under the condition he is available to play at UConn for at least two years. If s/he transfers, the money has to be pd back. Fails out of school, pay the money back.

Ageed. This is exactly the mind set people should have. We lose Nate Carter to Michigan State and the sky is falling. Now we lose Durell and the sky is falling. People love to complain on this board. Be part of the solution, gentlemen and give to NIL.

If the kid flunks out then he didn't fulfill his contract to stay at the school for x # of years, therefore he doesn't get paid.

Hold up. You don't have millions?

100 spot on. Development is for practice. Game days is now for production and auditioning. Kids want the bag and I don't blame them. For many of them their only pay day will be in college.

Expect talent to leave from every school every year in this new era. The key is for each school to scout available players and build a team every year as well as developing your roster. I continue to think that the portal era is a positive for UConn and this past year, it was overwhelmingly positive for UConn as talent in > talent out.

Nothing like portal season to put a damper on the first exciting bowl season in a long time. Sad

That's the downside of the transfer portal era. It giveth and it taketh away.

Don’t over react. UConn has 3 RBs at the very least. More likely. This is not a big loss.
This is a batsh#t crazy response, your'e the one overeating to my comment. Ever portal loss that Medic mentioned before #11 was a non factor, injured or a walk-on. Nobody said he's irreplaceable, actually I was pointing out we had a log jam if Rosa, him and the 3 others come back (RS FR O. L-Coleman will be another). Which as of now makes it 4 RB's without him. But it was a big loss period. Robinson was a great add for 2024, so much so that they never needed Victor after he got banged up.

It'll cut both ways, and my fear is that we'll only be as good The Replacements we get each portal season. As others have noted, it's no longer a development process, but reload and repeat. "Commitments" by these student-athletes should merely be regarded as temporary contracts. If net talent in > net talent out, we have a shot at a winning record, if not, reload and repeat.

I wonder if entering the portal serves as a negotiating tactic for some to secure more NIL from their current school. It seems to me that it is a way to build leverage.
