Got a conflict this weekend, don't expect that I will be able to do my usual game posting, but we'll see what happens. If the Sunday game is at night, that would be good for me in terms of the UConn game.

Friday through Sunday is the annual Connecticut Sea Music Festival which always takes place in early June. The last few years this event has been in Essex, before that it took place at Mystic Seaport. My wife and I have been to this festival every year it has been held since 1996, we just love it.

Well, looks like ESPN is down with these game times, so I guess that's that.

.-.
Selfishly I'm glad it's not Friday night because I'll be on a plane then. For the team, the later the first game was the better given the innings that our starters threw through Monday. But the exposure of at least two more games on actual ESPN is priceless.

I assume Cooke gets the rock Friday. Saturday, it will be Stu IF the 1 and 2/3 yesterday doesn't change his recovery time generally. If it does, then is it Coe or is it Van Emon coming off that gem but only getting four days rest from a season's high in pitches. (Not worrying about a game 3 at this point, but if it's not Stu on Saturday it will be on Sunday, and if it is Stu on Saturday Penders needs to pick between Coe and Van Emon.)

Assuming all 3 games get played, I would expect Cooke, S. Quigley, and Coe would get the starts. Certainly expect Van Emon will get mound time at some point in the series, especially if any of the starters come our of their game early.

I'm a Florida State alum. My daughter is at UConn now. She jokingly "woofed" at me this morning.

Anyway, wanted to mention that the fence in right was 30'/Green Monster-ish high. However, the tornado that went through Tallahassee a couple weeks ago brought it down. It's presently much lower.

This is perfect. I am about 3 hours away from FSU. I have a commitment Friday until about noon and am committed Saturday until mid-afternoon.
Perfect timing. Drive over to Tallahassee Saturday afternoon, get a room and watch game 3 on Sunday.

Yea I expect the weekend guys will continue to get the starts. It can’t be said enough what Van Emon did yesterday. No matter, the entire staff seems to be in a good spot. The innings used( especially bullpen) getting out of the regionals were limited big time.

It's going to be really hot this weekend in Tallahassee. Highs around 97 degrees. Too bad a night game isn't on the docket.
A little surprised the Fri game is not a night game. The heat could really be an issue and I’m assuming that’s why FSU is playing this at noon. I believe this will be UConn’s first true heat series all year. The pitchers will be vulnerable.

I believe ESPN picked the times for all the super regionals. Doubt Florida State had any influence on the decision. Regardless, FSU fans definitely wanted night games. It's a much better environment at night.

Regardless of who picked the time, it's gonna be hot.

Can UConn fans get tickets? I just saw where regional is sold out. I’m about five hours away and interested in Saturday and Sunday (if necessary)

I live in central Florida. They are predicting central FL will hit 97 on Friday. Tallahassee will probably be around 95. The humidity will be brutal. It may also rain.

It is a better environment at night but I thought the heat being an issue for Uconn they wanted a day game if a choice.

Yeah. It's possible, maybe even probable, that the FSU coaches might prefer day games. I honestly don't believe they had any say in the decision, but maybe.

Ahhhhh, perfect post designed to avoid bad karma.........if you know what I mean.

One of our good friends is an FSU fan and was rooting for UConn to win so we could go to the games in Tallahassee.
During Sunday's game she sent out a text to me, my wife and her husband how she wanted UConn to win. I had to painfully go in to details of how she screwed with the mojo. Yesterday, I let her know there was no mojo on an elimination game and she couldn't positively or negatively affect mojo.

So, today she sends out a text with the game times for Friday and Saturday. I responded she was messing with FSU's karma by assuming there wouldn't be a Sunday game. She responded back she didn't include Sunday because she didn't want to mess up FSU's sweep mojo. She is learning how mojo works, just for the wrong team.

I was looking at some of FSU’s pitching numbers and it seems the usage of the staff is similar to Duke and some extent Oklahoma, that they rely on the bullpen rather then true starters. Uconn is essentially the opposite. That total of 230 plus innings pitched by the weekend staff is impressive and it’s been the difference so far. Find a way to get Game One again and against what seems to be FSU’s lone ace in terms of IP. Worked out well last weekend.

Great facility, but I’m at a loss as to why they insisted on putting turf in the area around home plate and baselines with the natural grass being such a drawing card to that park. I’m sure maintenance was a motivator and perhaps heat related in terms effect on the dirt etc. ( kinda like the old Arlington Park in Texas). Uconn draws another great college baseball atmosphere while in the Supers. Stanford backdrop and baseball aurora is hard beat though.

UConn baseball now has 6 straight years of making the NCAA Tourney, and 2 years in a row of making the super regionals. That is something, wow! Hopefully they will keep on building on these accomplishments.
