Thanks for info. Any bar suggestions?
There are a lot of solid options. Really depends on your tastes and where you're staying in town.

Places like Township and Madison Social in College Town have the advantage of being relatively close to the baseball stadium.

Some Tennessee Street establishments (Pour Paul's, Bullwinkles, Ken's) are popular traditional haunts of college students. Keep in mind most students are gone this time of year.

Downtown, midtown and the northeast each have popular options too.

Was over at FSU earlier this year to see the FSU vs. UNC basketball game and stayed at hotel on Gaines St.
It's one block south of Madison St. Plenty of great options along Gaines St a few blocks to the east of the Madison St bars and restaurants- Oyster City Brewing makes good beers and inside the building is Warhorse Whiskey and Gaines St pies. Warhorse had good mixed drinks and Gaines St pizzas are perfectly acceptable.
We did eat and have a few drinks at Bowden's on Madison. It was decent. I would have expected more FSU gear and memorabilia in there but it was fine.

All these places were based on our friend's recommendations who have kids at FSU and visit frequently.

-> Connecticut committed one error in four games to win at Norman, shaking off a frustrating Big East tournament when the Huskies were two-and-done, both losses in extra innings. UConn was one of the No. 3 seeds to get past a regional, but it shouldn’t be that surprising. Just two years ago, the Huskies won 50 games and took Stanford the distance in the super regional. <-

-> Florida State, who in one year has gone from 23-31 to 46-15, eager to beat Connecticut and complete its recovery with a 24th trip to Omaha, where the Seminoles have still never won a title. <-

How do they match up against Florida State
let you know Sunday night... Smith is a first round pick, Tibbs is ACC player of the year and may have moved up to the 1st round after the season he had, and there Lefty Arnold is arguably the best lefty in the country not named Hagen Smith. They can swing it for sure

As always always worth a few minutes... the answer to the Tammaro question is worth it alone (I could listen to Penders insight all day):

Ian Cooke gets the opening...

-> Pitching plans

Penders plans to start Ian Cooke, who beat Duke with 5 2/3 strong innings in the Regional opener, to start Game 1 at FSU, Friday at noon. Cooke was the Big East pitcher of the year. Stephen Quigley, who beat Oklahoma on Saturday and finished the game on Sunday, could start Game 2, Saturday at 11 a.m. if his arm is sufficiently recovered. … The Huskies stayed on the road for a week and a half between a postponed game at Cincinnati, the season-ending series at Butler and the Big East Tournament in Ohio and didn’t like the experience, so they flew home from Oklahoma even though they’d have only one day in Connecticut. They practiced Wednesday morning with plans to fly out afterward. … Florida State, which swept its Regional, is hitting .314 as a team with 112 homers in 60 games. The Seminoles’ top pitcher, Jamie Arnold, is 11-3 with a 2.45 ERA and 146 strikeouts in 95 1/3 innings. <-

I love listening to Penders and his insight as well. Throw in Chris Jones either doing a game or talking or interviewing someone (such as the coaches) about UConn baseball as well, and you have a lot of good talking going on in relation to UConn baseball.

These interviews often have very interesting stuff concerning UConn baseball in them, that's for sure.

Regarding evaluating highschoolers:

"Kids will talk to me about their exit velocity, their vertical drop, their horizontal movement... I want to know about their win loss record, because if you can't get people out then all the rest doesn't amount to a hill of beans."

Yeah. It's possible, maybe even probable, that the FSU coaches might prefer day games. I honestly don't believe they had any say in the decision, but maybe.
They did, count on it. The NCAA is not noted for its impartiality or its intelligence.

It has never been a question of talent - there were some bouts with inconsistent play. That's behind us now. Let's continue to open eyes! I would like nothing better than to vanquish another ACC team on the road! It will make them long for Syracuse baseball... (Oh, I forgot Syracuse doesn't have a baseball team...)

I listened to Penders Monday night. He was right at home. He did mention that Geno was coming to the Super Regionals. He is bringing the cannolis to Tallahassee. (Try finding one down there!)

(I apologize - this writes itself...)

"Take the cannolis and leave the gun in Tallahassee..."

I thought it was pretty cool that respected baseball coaches such as Tim Corbin of Vanderbilt and Gary Gilmore of Coastal Carolina texted Coach Penders congratulating him. That shows great respect from respected coaches.

And of course Jim Calhoun and Geno sent him texts as well.

If there is anyone on this board who lives close and needs a ticket, I have a GA Bleacher seat that I can transfer to you. I can't seem to figure out how to get them posted to SeatGeek so rather than just sitting on them would rather transfer to a Huskies fan who might want them. Let me know.

USA put up a great show today, defeating Pakistan to get their second win in the cricket T20 WC. Excellent defense that reminded me of UConn's game on Monday.

I'm choosing to believe it's good mojo for the Hook C tomorrow.
