I'm curious to see who signs with UCONN for 2013. Also how may opt for UCONN. I'm thinking this is a Faris kind of year. Do you think the current bigs and 2012 bigs, Stewart and Tuck, will be too imposing for a 2013 bigs to sign with UCONN? Considering only Hartley has been consistent throughout this season; shooting guards should not shy away from UCONN. Hartley and Jefferson might put off point guards. Playing time for many may be more important than sitting on the bench for a NC. Especially since it is not a secret that Geno prefers to play only 7 to 8. Your thoughts?

You come to UConn knowing what is expected. There are no secrets, no hype, no smoke and mirrors. For those special few, the rewards are enormous. With our roster and incoming class there will be alot of playtime for everybody. Beginning next season it will be very hard for UConn to lose a game for quite sometime. Everybody will get minutes. Next seasons team will be like UConn was a few years ago, blowouts in the first half. The only game next season that will be even remotely close will be the Baylor game at UConn. We have more height then the Empire State building. We are bigger more athletic and deeper then any team in all of BB. So for the class of 2013 and beyond Geno will have top players who will play. They will be developed for future professional levels if they so choose. This is going to be a very exciting time for UConn WBB.

If I'm a guard and UConn is on my list of schools then IMHO it should be first(basketball reasons) as there is definitely a starting position available by her Sophmore year. Would get major minutes of play in her freshmen year. If Breanna is not playing center which is extremely possible, then center is another position of need.

I think we get Diamond because she knows she will play even if she does not start right away. I think Reimer goes elsewhere.

Whoever we get from 2013 can expect to be playing for a NC for at least their first 3 years:

3 years with Breanna, Moriah and Morgan
2 years with KLM, Kiah and Brianna.
1 year with Bria, Stef, Lauren and Michala

Not to mention the best coaching staff in the country, by a mile.

If I was a coach, I would not want a player who doesn't have the confidence and drive to think that she could not get ample playing time.

Or, the best coaching staff, by a country mile.... :D Both are correct!

Although I do hope we get more than 1 player from the 2013 class, I have but one true wish from this group.....

NC or Bust, we don't want kids that dont have confidence in their own ability. If a Big doesn't think she can come to UConn and compete with the talent thats there , they should indeed go to a NC. Geno is looking for confidence in his players , players who are not afraid to compete in practice against the DT, Maya's , and Lobo's of the world. Being able to come into practice and compete against the best prepares you to compete at anytime, and anywhere, against the Griner's , Diggins , and Ogumike's. Any player will get good playing time at UConn........... All they have to be is good enough.

I do think that even the best players do look at the team they will be joining, no matter how competitive they are. It may not be the final determinant in where they choose to go, but to say it has no affect in the process is probably wrong. I think one of the things that Uconn has done better over the years than TN is to balance their recruiting - besides guards, Geno does not tend to double up very often at any position. I think that is why early offers from Uconn are fairly limited - as far as we know their are only 2 out there right now for 2013, and that is pretty typical.
I think there has been a small shift in Geno's thinking based on injuries over the last number of years - I think he used to want to limit the team to 12, and I think he is now more willing to go higher.
I also think Geno is more flexible as a coach so he can adapt his system more easily to the players he has - three fowards and no true center, four guards and a power forward, whatever.

If you're a recruit considering UCONN and worried about playing time then the only thing you need to know is that Geno puts people on the court who want to work, learn, and play hard. If that's you, then welcome UCONN

I still think that UCONN will get three or four quality players from the 2013 class that aren't afraid of competition and hard work. It is my belief that we will get Diamond and Saniya. I think Notre Dame will sign Taya, so hopefully we can get Erica McCall. I would also like another guard if possible.

Even confident players are pragmatic and examine the talent on a team and the probability of starting or contributing substantially. Getting playing time in blowouts is not competing. Geno does play favorites. Buck on per minute basis is arguably almost on a par with Faris. Actually probably wpould score more and rebound more. See thumbnail.

a couple posters on the ESPN board who are ND fans seem to feel that ND has the inside track for her. take that for what it's worth, but it's possible that her potentially increasing interest in ND may have been the genesis for looking at McCall.

Taking Heather Buck's stats, mostly in garbage time, extrapolating them to 40 minutes, and then concluding that she "might" be more effective than Kelly Faris is pretty much proof that there are lies, damned lies, and statistics.
