UCLA Game Thread

How is Z going to respond to effectively being benched (I know she's got 3 fouls, but with 6:37 in the 4th, she should come back in, but Geno likes the movement better with the small lineup)? Will she be a better player or will it stunt her? My money is on her being motivated and improving markedly by the spring.

So I'm guessing the Q2 sluggishnesss was a result of Gabby being on the bench.

I would like to think the team wouldnt have that much of a dropoff from 1 player, but it could be.
I don't think you can underestimate the energy and intensity she brings to the game.

Huge shout-out for KIA! Can't run, can't jump, isn't shooting (just kidding about that). But she's playing a near-perfect floor game. Steadying Crystal, boxing out, just all the small things. What a tremendous competitor.
Say it again bags. I think it needs saying more around here. She's one of my stars of the game. Crystal's defense on Canada has been just terrific too.

94.4% free throw?

Now.. this is only the 3rd game of the season.. when these ladies get into a rhythm and figure some stuff out... it really will be lights out for other teams... cuz UCLA is a good team... but Uconn is on another level and they aren't even clicking yet...

Kia Nurse can not handle the ball. Crystal Dangerfield is so critical to this team.

Stevens comes in and plays cold. To be expected.

UConn starting to get outplayed even with all starters still on the floor.

Don't underestimate Z's importance. She's an intimidation factor underneath. Even if she didn't get many boards, her presence was really important in the 1st Q for Gabby to sky for them. UConn absolutely must invest in Z. Assuming she's back next year, with Gabby graduating, Z. will be critical.

Walker misses Collier who had established perfect position, then misses a layup.
