That horn from her father is beyond obnoxious. If he brings that into Gampel, I won’t hesitate to confront him. No one should have to watch or play a basketball game with that in the back(fore)ground.
I really like Azzi parents--they seem to have provided all the things to make Azzi successful, but I had to mute the telecast because of that incessantly annoying horn. You would think since he has been in coaching, he would have more "sophisticated" means to celebrate Azzi's and her team's performance than with some refugee horn from a World Cup trash bin...

Easy victory for Team USA 129-45. Team USA next plays Spain which will give USA a tougher game.

Box Score: USA v Chinese Taipei boxscore - FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2021 - 11 August - FIBA.basketball

Looking at other results, I'm surprised Canada beat France 79-72.

I had Team USA facing either Russia or France for the Gold Medal Game.

Does anyone have an opinion on how good Mali is? Can they beat Russia in their next game?

Russia is playing Egypt right now and it's a 3 point game half way through the second quarter.
Based on that, I would say that Mali has a chance.

I believe he only whips out the horn when Azzi is playing overseas. At least I hope. I dont think those are allowed in any college arena.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s because of that horn which he thinks is cute, is why I turn the sound down on these games. Everyone does not want to hear a horn , cowbell or any other device that makes noise throughout the game. It’s irritating. People go to a game for enjoyment. The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few. Remember who said that? IMO, he was right.

That may be so. But I did notice that Spear is not even on the bench with the US team. If she was injured, I would be expect to see her cheering on her teammates from the sidelines. Sick? Suspended?
I believe Spear may not be with the team. Cori Close tweet: States a player missing - most likely Spear. Only one player obscured by Paopao and behind Azzi.

Nice to see that Amari (along with Feagin + Wolfenbarger) lead the team in rebounds with 9 in only 12 minutes.

She has great court vision and looks first, is completely unselfish, has a great sense of the flow of the game, and plays very anticipatory defense. Her shot is great but I didn't see any pull ups. She is a true UCONN player.

Tim Fudd stated on twitter that the young ladies on the team love the horn! If the team is for it then I’m for it. I’m speaking of the USA U19 team.
WiseOne, your comment is noted and understood. However, it should not be the deciding factor on whether or not to continue to blow that incessant horn. That sir is an extremely poor position to take when arguing/debating that point. That position would suggest that the wishes and whims of the USA players and their parents should take priority over the comfort and respect of the other fans in attendance.

What about the hundreds of other spectators that find the horn obtrusive, and would prefer not to hear it? It’s unfortunate that arena operations personnel (ushers) did not ask him (politely) to stop blowing the horn, and not bring it into the arena. Are the games being put on for the enjoyment of all, or just the players and parents of team USA?

Jordy Jordy Jordy. Pick on someone you can handle. Oldude?
Jordy, you’re not alone!!! If I’m the event organizer/arena operators, I want EVER do you want to table in there YONE to enjoy the games. Not just a select few. I’ll be watching on TV. I can always turn the sound down so his horn won’t bother me personally. I was simply championing the fans in attendance that would rather not listen to his horn for two hours.

I’m sorry, but I’m one of those individuals that don’t need to take noise makers to basketball or football games (cow bells) to cheer for my team, and possibly disturb the comfort of those around me. It like your neighbor playing loud music in their backyard after 10:00 pm. They’ve been playing it all evening. But after 10:00 pm, the surrounding neighbors have a right to enjoy peace and quiet. Some neighbors may not have a problem with the loud music after curfew, while others do. It’s an individual preference not necessarily shared by the group.

While I enjoy watching this team play, it would be more interesting if they played another team that was more competitive than these first 3. Is this USA team that good, or are the other teams that bad?

Yeah, until the next time she misses three in a row. :)
Then the “chicken littles” will appear.
On the horn subject, might we be anticipating a problem that doesn’t exist in UConn WCBB?

Her pull up game is her best asset. She has the textbook stop and pop midrange jumper.

Maybe. It’s worth noting that Azzi is leading all players in 3-pt shooting with a red hot 65% on 11/17. As I watch her shoot that textbook jumper from the arc, just as with Paige, I am shocked when it doesn’t splash the net.

Maybe someone who has seen Azzi play in HS games can weigh in on the horn issue. That might give us a clue as to the probability for horn action at UConn games. Milford, was the Fudd horn heard at any of Azzi's HS games you attended?
