He makes good calls close to the date of announcement. Or whoever runs that account.

At this point, it would be one of the biggest announcement day surprises I can remember if he picked UConn

It's crazy. When Duke was involved, I was like, "We have to get Betsey!". When it's Cinci or Bama I'm like, "It would be nice to get him, but if not, that's fine."
 
That's my sentiment, too, folks. If he surprises by choosing UConn, great, if he chooses to go to Bama or Cinci, I won't be crestfallen either. Good luck to the young man on where ever he decides to go.

Best of luck to him - I am fine with CT cooking up top b-ball talent and becoming a recruiting hotbed.

Over the last few years, wife would tell me how her co-worker used to talk all the time about her son playing AAU basketball blah blah blah. Last week my wife mentioned that she was going to her coworker's son's announcement. I am like, "wait, your co-worker's son is Tyler Betsey?" So my wife and some of her other co-workers will be there for the announcement. I have no insight at all except for the mildly interesting anecdote. It would be cool for her if he chooses UConn.

Just depends on whether this kid wants to play for championships or first-round exits.

There was never an expectation he would stay home. He's proud of his hometown high school and wants to announce there. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I know a teacher at the school who says everyone is thrilled about it.

All those kids love Ken Smith. They go off to prep schools for the competition but always come back for him.
 
Blows my mind that a top 40 kid from CT would rather go to a team that will be in the middle of the pack in the Big 12 every year instead of his hometown team that just won the NC and is positioned to compete for more. Crazy.
