Tunes you digging right now

I basically only knew their eponymous hit until I came across "Spirit of Eden." I think I'm going to listen to it again today, it's been awhile. Good stuff, thanks.
Any time, yes it's been a while for me too listing to them. I have so much music archived I tend to forget what I have. Lol.
By the way! All their stuff is really good.

Popped this oldie in the car player earlier. Always loved the engineering on this track. Wish he'd release something new after 20 years.

Aww Nice! I will have to listen to this one. ( been a long time) If he has not done anything up to know forget it. But would be a treat if he did. Very talented. (Karl Wallinger) great album!

Tremendous cover. Best appreciated at "11" in a car with a good stereo:

Leo Kottke is one of my favorite "check him out whenever he is in the area" shows. His solo show at the Ridgefield Playhouse was the the first concert my wife and I went together when we were first dating.

Him and Gordon make a great pair, too. Their first album, Clone, came out when I was in high school and Phish was a big influence on my band at the time. However, this was during one of Phish hiatuses, so we ate up any Phish side projects: Clone being my favorite still to this date. Two very talented musicians and both with fun, off-beat humor.

Thanks for the post, @8893! It inspired me to check out his tour dates. He's playing the Northeast this autumn, including a show in Hartford and Old Saybrook. If any of you live near Fall River and haven't been to the Narrows Center for the Arts, it's an awesome venue. I just picked up two tickets for his Sunday night show in Mamaroneck, NY, just a half hour from us. I last saw Kottke in Beacon, NY back in 2015 at the new Towne Crier Cafe, so good to see he's still touring at 76!

What genre would people say this is? It's really quite a mix of sounds going on there.
clearly, it's deepska/reggaeton/techno, with a bit of rock and roll, funk, new wave, punk, ragtime, scratch, and incontinent cat noises tossed in. in other words, it falls plainly in the center of the 'never want to hear that again' spectrum.
sorry bud, but you did ask. lol.
polka rules, and u can dance to it, which u can't do with that nuclear waste tune u put up. lol 2x.

get jiggy with it.

New release from the Counting Crows that sounds like it could have been on August and Everything After; he’s a bit of freak himself but I still love this guy’s voice:

Good song. Thanks for that. I loved August & Everything After, their cover of Big Yellow Taxi and their cover of Carmelita. Don Imus got me into Carmelita.

Figure some of the Gen X types here would appreciate this. Mayer definitely channeling some 80s classics with his new stuff....

A tremendous version of a magnificent song by a spectacular band:

Have to give a shout out to my friend Dave, who's Jazz album Solace is at #13 on the NACC Jazz Charts right now. He's an amazing Sax player. Jazz is his real love, but Boston area folks into Ska may remember Plate O'Shrimp as well.

I think I’ve posted about James Maddock before. This one popped up on my iPod this morning; it’s the first one I ever heard from him and I was hooked instantly. I have since purchased most of his catalog and seen him live (opening for Ian Hunter at FTC Stage One iirc). Great artist; great song:

Your post reminded me of another artist that I have not listened too in a while David Baerwald. If your not familiar with his music download all his stuff he is that good. Singer song writer exstrodinar very under rated, he used to be with a band called David and David (1 album) also excellent stuff. His Triad album just mind blowing.

Nice. Thanks for the tip. He reminds me a bit of Cris Jacobs, who used to be with The Bridge (a great, underrated band from MD) and now has his own band and also plays solo:

Honestly I never heard of him, played your video and liked it. Went and download one his albums Color Where You Are, will check out rest of catalog in time. Was only able to listen to 1st song and liked it.Very similar to David Baerwald. Thanks, will thoroughly enjoy it I'm sure.

OK, maybe not you on the Apple, that was more for Deepster.

I get the "I love radio" part. I just don't feel that way in 2021 as it's been so long since I've heard decent radio. If you can convince me that there's another "Idiot's Delight" out there, maybe I'd change my mind.

As far as Pandora's algorithm goes, I found it weirder and more eclectic than Spotify, even though the latter has a much larger library. My Lyle Lovett station is a trip. All sorts of weirdness there. I've got 15 or so stations, some based on specific songs.

I particularly enjoy my "Kelly's Heroes" (Black Grape) station (as an aside, I'll argue with anyone that "It's Great When Your Straight" was the best album of the 90s). I just put on whatever I'm in the mood for and I'm good for a couple hours, or if I'm feeling wild, there's always shuffle.

You'll find this amusing. While my channels represent a number of genres (none of them Van Morrison), pretty much all of them eventually land on one or more Van Morrison tunes.
Listen to WXRT on free Audacy app. Pretty much any time; afternoon drive through midnight is when I still put on terrestrial via digital. Chicago station.

Blues based rock, if you like Free, Black Crowes and Rival Sons. Check them out. Band I'd called Mojothunder.
