Tulsa Game Thread!

Honestly, I didn't think Tulsa would get 40 points for the entire game, and yet they put up 33 in the first half alone. I realize this is a relative smackdown, but Tulsa is by far the worst team in the AAC (5-12 overall). No way we should have given up 33 points and let them shoot almost 50% from beyond the arc... Wonder what's wrong with the team tonight?

Lou is taking what the defense is giving her.
Lou hasn't even attempted to run a curl. A curl requires energy and effort. Not only by you, but your teammates. Standing at the 3 point line doesn't. Now, has she scored well in the first half? Yes and yes. But the overall lack of energy by the team is evident. More so on defense.

UConn needs to come out in the 3rd and bury them in effort, energy, and execution.

I gotta say, these AAC teams ain't that bad. Tulsa has just knocked in eight 3's in the first half. They're a losing team, but they're scoring at nearly a 70-point clip against the nation's best defensive team. They're rather week on defense, but they are lighting it up on the offensive end.

And remember how hard SMU fought the entire game. Yes, they lost by 40, but UConn has beaten 9 top 25 teams, and seven of those teams by double-digits. So these teams are better than the conference gets credit for.

I'm way more impressed by Tulsa than I thought I would be judging by their record going in.

I don't know what this Dickson kid has done the rest of the season. But she just put up 15 points in a single half against UConn. So the kid's got something.

Assuming Uconn wins this game, Geno will have 972 wins two ahead of Barbara Stevens in the 6th place on the wikipedia list.
Rutgers lost to Iowa 5 minutes ago. Geno is now 5 behind CVS.

The Huskies have had two consecutive games on the road, setting a new winning streak record along the way. They have to be mentally exhausted as well as physically tired.

I'd also like to remind folks that Late January-early February is the time players are start to get nagging aches and pains and young players hit the wall. Its easy for us to sit on our couches and complain about the team but there's no way we can know how emotionally fatigued and beat up they are.

They are college kids and not professionals or robots. As 18-19-20 year olds away from school for a week, they still have to worry about their academics. They have more responsibilities than just playing basketball. Also consider this team hasn't worn home whites since Dec. 1st. All the travel takes a toll.

I remember an ND game last year where Mabrey was unconscious. Tulsa as a team is shooting 3's well.

KLS with the backdoor cut fed by Gabby! 64-36 7:05 3rd gotta be getting close to career high pts for KLS
