Early verbals boils your blood? Not the class as a whole at the end of the day?
he's referring to the verbal sewer-cuse just got from a 2021 top 50 player. benny williams is their highest rated recruit since 2016 and a great start to their class so yeah that's annoying.

no one's saying they want hurley to load up on 2 and 3 star players before august just to get it over with.

Look at where we are all of a sudden. In 3 of the last 4 seasons we went 46-52 in the AAC. Last season was 19-12. Now look at the schools we're competing with for these kids. Seems pretty damned impressive what Dan Hurley and his coaches have done so far. Give them a successful year or two in the BigEast. You guys that are starting to second guess, and groan that Dan Hurley and Co fell asleep about out-year recruiting are simply ridiculous.

You need medication, because I guaranty you that Hurley isn't recruiting to get verbals early -- he's recruiting to build the best team he can.
Yes...any success when it comes to Syracuse tends to irk me. Not sure which medication would keep that from happening but I’ll ask my wife. She’s a pharmacist. I feel like if I posted “I like basketball”. someone would find a way to take it as a criticism.

Right? I understand that a nice early commit takes some pressure off but worrying about who other teams sign is not healthy.

If you say water is wet on here someone would argue you are wrong. You can't please everyone. You just have to accept that to be on a forum like this.

Not sure if this is accurate. Didn't they get a verbal from a top 10 PG a while back? Anyway, we're coming back in a big way so Fuse!

One issue with the rankings is class size. For example, Wojo has had the following class ranking: 18, 74, 108, 59, 22, 12,105, 7 (avg. 50th). The 108 class in 2018 was 1 scholarship and it went to Joey Hauser, a top 50 recruit. Roster balance skews the numbers over the short term, for example Hurley had to rebuild the roster when he took over, thus the ability to offer playing time at a storied program rejoining the Big East is an easier sell than backing up Markus Howard. Now UConn has a very deep team this year and it will be interesting to see the recruits Hurley can bring in with less playing time to go around. I suspect Xavier will be a victim of their own success this year (the '21 recruiting class), the past two classes were very strong, now in 2021 we don't have much immediate playing time to offer. Lastly, transfers should probably be accounted for in some capacity as transferring has become omnipresent.

This is a fun discussion and happy to have UConn joining the BE. We desperately needed a team that can win in March, the NBE has been carried by 'Nova with many programs underachieving in the tournament. Cough cough, Cooley, Wojo and McDermott.
Welcome, friend

Of course an early commitment from a big time player is nice, but it is not the same in today's chaotic recruiting world as it used to be with one-and-dones, the G league, decommits, coaches getting fired, more decommits, and the never-ending transfer portal. There seems to be more good players available than ever at various times. So if you have a good product to sell (which we do) and you know how to sell it (which Dan Hurley does) there should be a stream of quality recruitable players. And if the one time transfer for 21-22 is true, then there is a little less pressure on this recruiting cycle than usual.

Between injuries and possibly going pro we have some question marks.
are you saying this is complicating recruiting somehow? regardless of polley's and akok's injuries and bouk probably going pro we'll still have at least 3 spots to fill. no one's in a rush to fill bouk's spot but some tangible traction on the first three open schollies would be welcome

Nova leads....we're firmly in mix.

This feels sort of like the Sanogo situation where another school (Seton Hall in Sanogo's case) was the leader for a while, but Dan Hurley and co. keeps hanging around and making up ground over time. Hopefully between now and 6/18 we can make up enough ground to get the same result as Sanogo!

His phrasing is really weird. Is he saying nova is in the lead, with Indiana/Uconn/Florida also in the mix? Or is he saying that Nova is on the outside looking in? Very strange writing. I expect it's the former, but who knows
That sure doesn’t read like it’s Nova in a landslide. This could get interesting.

Amazing how Zionns posts under the Hurley staff aren't nearly as negative as under the last year or 2 of Ollie.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that this staff actually gets stuff done...
