Miya Crump, frosh of the year in the Southland conf, transferring from Lamar to Houston!
Good pickup for the Cougars.

I love this kids game. An electric PG

Wow, huge blow to USC. Trakh has been having a hard time making much headway in his second stint at USC and this is a major setback. Losing both Moores and Mazyck, basically starting from scratch in the back court next year. No way they're moving into the upper half of the Pac 12 now. Top 3 scorers by a wide margin.

Minyon was injured in high school-senior year i believe and wasn’t even in the top 100 recruits. She is so much fun to watch. Loved watching her in the PAC-12. Always felt she underrated PGs in the nation.

The significant losses among those are Moore and Tapley. Archer is also a pretty decent prospect.

And that leaves Kayla Overbeck and perhaps Shalexxus Aaron as the only significant contributors expected to return next year.

An underwhelming hire leading to underwhelming results.

What? Round 2 for Trakh might not last very long at this rate. I didn't think it was a great hire at the time it was made.

I dont think anyone was going to USC. when they didnt offer the Wynns the job nobody was left but to re-offer Trakh.

Donna Heinel, the womens director, who was arrested in the entrance scandal, ruined the program. She had a choice of Cynthia Cooper Dyke(with her problems at every school she was at) or the Princeton coach, who came on the campus, spoke to the team and from what I recall the girls liked her. She took CCD and even though the program made the dance for the 1st time in years, it went to hell after that.

Playing "what if" had Wynn gone to USC is an interesting game. She's obviously struggled mightily at UW but didn't have much to work with when she arrived. Her teams play hard and sometimes play way over their head. USC had some nice pieces in place. I have to think she would've at least matched the record that Trakh has produced.

USC has a decent 6 player class coming in, including a 6’5 McDonald’s all American post, and both the Alaska and Texas Gatorade player of the years, maybe some of the upperclassmen didn’t expect to get much playing time next season.

Just looked at the USC class for 2019. I cant believe Madison Campbell, who played for Clovis West isnt ranked higher. I saw her play near me this past season. She had very good handles, shoots the 3 real well and I loved her passing. She could be a sleeper.

All the USC players leaving were Cooper players, although Trakh lost his own recruit, Archer. Desiree Caldwell will get a lot of playing time next season as will the rest of his incoming class. Galoway was a former walk-on converted to scholie but won't see much time.

There was reportedly a lot of tension in the locker room last season which caused the early exit of Archer. Not having a true floor leader hurt the team badly but not having a team leader was pretty disasterous. Effa participated in Senior Day and Milisic was a reshirt junior so she might be done as well. Raoul said Moore will transfer as a grad. Maybe Baylor?

If they get a few transfers like Edwards from Utah and/or a JC transfer from original commit Ayanna Clark, things will be fine. It might also clear the way for another original commit, Littleton.

It's not unusual to see some house cleaning when there is a coaching change, but would've expected it at the end of the first season, not the second season. I don't think there's any way to spin Minyon leaving as a positive.

That's because it's not a positive. But since she's leaving as a grad transfer, it's more understandable. Sniezek, anybody? As for the others, it was more like practice players that Cooper filled her roster out with. A lot of volume but not a lot of talent.

However, a definite addition by subtraction is Mazyck. That in itself makes for a better situation.

I definitely noticed in some games this year (the Oregon road swing IIRC) some sniping between players on the court, didn't look like they were having any fun. I thought there was some of that the previous year as well. I thought Simon was a big part of the problem (not this year obviously since she had graduated), I'll take your word for it Mazyck was as well. She was certainly talented but streaky.

Hannah Friend, is an awesome player that plays full court in your face defense. It was a pleasure watching her play at Farmington High. Sadly, they lost to Kiah Gilliespe from Capital Prep her senior year in the SF's played at Bristol Central High School. In reality this game should have been taken place in the State Finals but prep wound up playing one less game that year because of weather.

Not sure if she would consider going that far east, but I think Mississippi State could be a good fit for her. They would mightily get a boost from a grad-transfer point guard, especially one as good as Moore. Perhaps Baylor may be looking for a PG Grad-transfer too?

And the Ole Miss transfer award goes to .... Indiana St .... which has 8 players in the transfer portal. All returning players, save a redshirt frosh, are leaving. (They also graduated 6.)

I guess the first year on coach Vicki Hall was slightly bumpy.

Hall has 7 frosh coming in this fall, so once again a new coach has turned over the roster very quickly to get her players in.
I remember a few years ago Geno lost 1-2 players to transfer and there was an uproar on the Boneyard. I guess this puts things in perspective.

Can you elaborate on this? Chemistry issues?

This was not a happy team or one that enjoyed playing together. As noted by NWHoopfan, it was obvious on the court. Even when a player was injured, there was no gathering of the team or even concern. It was said to be way worse in the locker room and Trakh inherited a mess. There was a definite split on the team. Mazyck was a wild child who couldn't be reeled in. She even posted photos of her and her friends smoking pot on IG. I think Trakh suspended her a couple of times but she was still a disruptive presence. They've lost scoring with Mazyck and the Moores but there was no positive leadership.

As for Minyon, she is said to be a fine young lady and a good student who liked USC and Trakh but needed to move on. Rumors are that she will join her friend and HS nemesis Ionescu in Oregon.

That would be one filthy backcourt .. my goodness

She just began following Elena Lovato (Mississippi State assistant) and Kelly Graves on twitter. Neither would surprise me.

I can TOTALLY see Minyon in the backcourt with Sabrina. WOW!!!
