Transfer Portal Starting to Load

Perry Ellis and Chris Thomas from Notre Dame are my internal examples of guys who were in college for 12 years. There’s worse cases now, including Hunt Dick.

I guess my best take would be he would start at the three with Stew at the four exclusively (assuming Karaban is gone). Mullins splits backup at the 2/3. Play a bit of small ball 1-4. That's all I can see.

As for his shooting, I did not watch nearly enough Cal ball this year to comment. Was it his shot, or his shot selection?

I saw him play more than a few times for Jesuit HS in Sacramento, was never as impressed as many in the area were. He didn't seem to have that "dawg mentality". His play was spotty; when he was good, he was very good, when he wasn't... Well, he wasn't.

He had a lot of attention, at least partly due to his last name. Even at the end of his HS career, there were some on my local high-school forum that thought VERY highly, as in one-and-done potential.

I keep any possibly controversial opinions to myself because so many know me; I've even been spotted by players. So, I'd keep my "no way" opinion very quiet. Last thing I wanna do is get some teen player upset.

Anywayyy... His Stanford freshman season went about as I expected, he did little in the floor time he got. I didn't know what to think when he transferred to arch-rival Cal, but he exceeded my expectations by quite a bit. 17.9 points on 43% shooting, 31% from the arc. Not fantastic, but pretty good... Seems like he's grown some 'nads. I never watched him play for Cal, though, so all I have is numbers.

Good luck to your boy, shame it didn't work as expected here.
 
Amending my post about Stojakovic after watching a little of the last Cal-Stanford game... Cal was very shorthanded for that game (in addition to being pretty average), so Andrej was given an even brighter green light than usual... He responded with 37. Very smooth mover, technically solid, anticipates well. I still have my doubts about his physicality, but he could probably fill a 6th-man spot quite well, if he wants it... 6-7 guy as first guard off the bench, might be good...

He had also played 50 minutes in a 4-OT loss against Notre Dame, scoring 21, so maybe my toughness doubts are unfounded??

Not a matter of "fretting or backing down." We more often than not are not well prepared for his style of aggressive pressing etc. and often get our ass beat because of it. I guess its hard to devote an inordinate amount of time to their peculiarities and Pitino's teams are just more physical than what we have been putting on the floor. He does have some creepiness but he is a genuine HOF coach.

Sure at this point I’d take him. He can Compete with Mullins for starting SF.
