Transfer Portal Starting to Load

Why? He is small and was a good but not great scorer. That seems like a big overpay if true.
They’re desperate for pieces to put next to Dybantsa I would guess. He’s only going to be around for one year so they want to cash in.

Egor Demin just declared for the draft too so they need to add some talent.

Yeah I understand what they are trying to do but just can’t believe that he would fetch that much money. I know some of these reports are definitely just rumors. I can see half that amount. I mean wouldn’t some of the appeal be the opportunity to play at BYU for the chance to play with Dybantsa? I higly doubt 3.5 Million for Wright as even the intital rumors of close to 10 Million for Dybantsa were wrong.

So now it’s April 9 and we can mention current UConn players, but there aren’t any. Everyone’s either in the portal or coming back, except Alex, and he’ll either go pro or return.

Rumors that have been circulating on Twitter have BYU paying Rob Wright 3.5 million in NIL. It certainly hasn’t been getting cheaper to build a roster
That's on top of the $5 million they gave AJ Dybantsa. I wonder how much in total they're spending on their roster next season. Hope it's worth it.

The following schools have checked in on Tyler Cochran (@captaintc23) he tells TPR: USF Rhode Island UConn New Mexico College of Charleston

Tyler Cochran 6'3 225. Older player [2 years at Northern Illinois, 1 year at Ball State, 2 years at Toledo, transferred to Minnesota but never played after off-season foot surgery]. His last year at Toledo he was Second Team All MAC and the Co-Defensive Player of the Year. He averaged 14 ppg, 6 boards, 2 assists. Based on his list of other schools seems like hopefully we could get him here as a role player. Personally, I love the idea of a bigger, defensive, veteran guard as an option off the bench.

Is it me or does it seem like a lot of teams have improved their roster ( especially Big East ) compared to what we have accomplished in the portal?

Burries just announced Arizona, as expected, joining Peat & Aristode to shape up a very nice class for Lloyd. On par with ours, if not better, across the top 3.

Depends on how you want to look at it. We "improved" our roster by filling the one absolute glaring need that we had at PG and bringing back some guys many thought we might lose. We could have gone the opposite way and tried to buy some big names, but I'm happy to have some continuity and not just a bunch of mercenaries. But, the argument could be made that, again, we're depending on major development from a couple guys and an expectation that our freshmen will hit. I think we'll bring in two more depth pieces to fill out the roster.

The fact that we're on his list, along with Ross coming back, tells me tables tilting to AK moving on.

This dude would be an AMAZING get. He is tough as nails, can shoot and take it inside. I am all for it. Not surprising he's on the every top programs shopping list
So was Silas Demary and that one worked out well for the good guys.

Silas had a strong list, but it wasn't that. Let's see what happens.

In terms of profile, for this team, he'd be a better fit in terms of the overall makeup than AK would. Tough, gritty, versatile. AK obviously brings the continuity.

Silas visited St. John's then UConn. He was going to visit BYU and then Duke had he not picked us so early and there would've been more of the very top schools involved had he not ended it so quickly.

More top schools always get involved when there's less top guys left in the portal.

I don't know exactly how long the list was for Silas, but he had his fair share of high quality suitors. Off the top of my head the schools on his list, but not limited to, were Kentucky (Mark Pope in home visit), St. John's, Duke, and BYU, the latter 2 schools he canceled the visits for.
Silas is a great pickup for UConn. If he didn't choose UConn so early, the list of interested schools would have only gotten bigger for Silas.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Demary ended his recruitment early and picked which places made sense to him to visit. He pretty much had a similar type list of schools inquiring about him. See below when he entered the portal. He was one of the top 2 or 3 guards in the portal at the time.
