But Like Singare He’d be 3rd string behind Reed and reibeI'm surprised how bad he has been so far. I thought he would be much better. He would be an upgrade over Singare but I don't think I'd want him as the main backup center.
I'm embellishing a bit with that phrasing, but the Hopkins deal had clearly been in the works for quite some time before it was announced. How do you think Luis felt seeing his coach commit $1.6 million of next year's NIL money to a kid at another school before he'd decided whether he wanted to return? And if you think Luis was simply “run off” I’m not sure what to tell you.
I acknowledged this. You, and others, can acknowledge that running off an RJ Luis is far different than running off a Leon Tolksdorf or a Michael Bradley. It's bad for the player, bad for the sport, and bad for the fan. And it's not just Pitino. There are cases all across the country of coaches exchanging one player for a mostly equivalent player simply because they can. UConn fans should be grateful Hurley doesn't do that.respectfully, I think you’re dreaming
Players have been run off programs forever
Why so B1G?
If that bothered him he's a big baby. Of course Pitino is going to bring in the best players he can get, it's what he's paid to do.I'm embellishing a bit with that phrasing, but the Hopkins deal had clearly been in the works for quite some time before it was announced. There's the unavoidable cutthroat part of major college sports and then there's the weasel, snake stuff like this.
He is a rare talent, refused to play defense at uncTrilly says SJU just landed Ian Jackson, top transfer out of UNC.
They're loaded, going to be top 5 in the country preseason.Trilly says SJU just landed Ian Jackson, top transfer out of UNC.
You really can’t compare the situations. We will either have 2 or 3 returning starters who have been at UConn their whole college careers. And we have 3 burger boys coming in as freshmen. I’m pretty sure that Wilcher is literally the only player they have who’s been there the whole time. Does Pitino even try to get freshmen anymore? What exactly is he doing that is a “mockery”? We lost our entire recruiting class from last year and are replacing them with random mercenaries. This is what college sports is now.
It's not that simple anymore. It's more like pro sports where your NIL budget is X and anything you spend in free agency comes out of the pocket of your current players. That's why Pitino (same guy who tried to talk Donovan Mitchell into another year of school) has been publicly leading the RJ to the NBA charge since December. He spent the money before RJ even knew what he wanted to do.If that bothered him he's a big baby. Of course Pitino is going to bring in the best players he can get, it's what he's paid to do.
Pitino over his career has been known to be impatient and try quick fixes to his roster. He's up there in age and doesn't have much time left to build a winning program. And who could forget his debacle as the coach/GM when he took the Celtics job? Travis Knight is still thanking him to this day.Pitino is once again bringing in a ton of new bodies. Hopefully he won't have to rant about how he didn't choose them and how his assistants misled him on how good they were .
This isn't the best way to build for extended runs over a period of years but it is how most schools will approach things for the foreseeable future.
My guess is the floor on this approach is somewhat like 2024-2025 Kansas while the ceiling is something close to 2022-2023 Miami.
No
