This place is plain weird. Someone earlier in this thread implied we should've essentially tanked the season and just played our underclassmen exclusively so they would be ready for this year.
People do that every year. I remember in mid-2014 someone saying we should play freshmen more and plan for the future.

No, we are not. We have seen what Ross’ strengths and weaknesses are. He can maximize his strengths and become an energy guy who defends and rebounds and hits some shots. But he is not a playmaker, full stop. He struggles with his dribble and he is erratic.

You are setting yourself up to be called out on these fantastical visions of players, but you will never admit you are/were wrong.
I’m not sure what I haven’t admitted to being wrong about?

I’m happy to know that you know Ross’s hard ceiling based on his first year playing in less minutes than freshman year Hilton.

I’m sure you would’ve said this same thing about starting Gaffney and Bouknight as freshman back in 2020 too. Lol

His blue tinted raybans are bifocals that also make him think every player that we develop will become exactly like some historically good Husky. Has to be a condition name - Huskilitis.
I think the clinical term is husktigmatism.

Yes we should root for teams in our division to do well in the playoffs even when our team gets knocked out. That’s why I’m looking forward to having Red Sox fans on our side when they don’t make the playoffs. Having then root for the Yankees should they be in the World Series is going to be fantastic. Maybe they’ll even wear Aaron Judge shirts!
The Yankees don't get paid for the Red Sox doing well. If you think the AL East and the Big East are similar you're even more lost than I thought.

Can you elaborate on why are you so invested in Ross? Beyond him being invited to some rando NBA camp with other non NBA profiles like Fletcher Loyer, and because he was a growth spurt PG, what are you seeing?

What, based on what you saw, makes you so high on him? Much of what you're angling over is highly theoretical - why not simply evaluate the player in what you have seen? You do realize his defensive metrics were pretty awful, right? And it's clear he's no offensive wizard. He does have upside, because what he showed can only go up.

You vouched for Ross to get more mins late in the season, he got some, looked shaky as he did ALL SEASON, and then still pushed the agenda.

Your statements are outlandish, I can appreciate being a huge fan and thinking our players can shoot for the moon, but being realistic also helps sometimes, less of a let down when things inevitably don’t work out as you hope.

Huh? You're literally the only person who brings up Gaffney on this board. It's bizarre. Bouknight was the most talented player on the team, even as a freshman. What's your point?

We need to get 611 and Hans into a conversation to see what it yields.

When they sign someone with the last name Stoltzfus, you’ll know they’ve arrived as the go to destination for the Amish.

As an added bonus they’ll build high quality picnic tables for outside the student union on off days.
He is Australian
Top rebounder in D1 this year- nice addition to the team. They will have 2 legit 7 foot centers next year with Jacobsen healthy.

It benefits the conference UConn plays in if they win and UConn gets money from it if they win. This really shouldn't be difficult for you to understand.

Cool. You acting like it’s obvious to root for your direct rival just because of some monetary gain, as a fan, is weird. Not difficult to understand, but more so difficult to understand why a fan would root that way.

Your general tone towards people is also in that category, but that’s a different story. I rooted for St John’s to lose because I have disliked them since the late 90s. I’m a fan, I like the extra dough to help my team but I’m not actively rooting for my team’s rival. I guess that is weird.

Yes it's weird, it's also weird how you dish it out and then whine about my tone.

Your tone is consistent and your initial post was the tone I was responding to - I'm not whining in any way, just responding.

It's not weird at all for a UConn basketball fan to root against St. John's and Rick Pitino in 2025, but you know that.

It’s not weird at all to root against them. I was rooting for them because some of my closest friends are fans and I had them in my bracket.

Pitino is a great coach but is slimy as hell. St John’s took our lunch this year and are a long standing rival. Perfectly fine to not root for then lol.

The money (along with "Big East pride") is the consolation prize for a "rival" winning.

If you think Georgia fans want to see Florida or Auburn win the title or UNC fans are hoping Duke wins for a few extra dollars, you are out of your mind.

Why doesn't everyone just root for who they want to and just leave it at that. The whole argument is ridiculous to begin with because who I root for has zero bearing on the actual outcome of the games. Me personally I won't ever root for PC or St Johns. I have my own reasons but other people have their reasons for rooting for who they want and I won't begrudge them that.

That's fine, just don't whine about UConn's money situation playing in the Big East.

There has to be a confucious quote to support this very level headed angle.

True, because the extra $1,200 we would have earned if St John's made it past Arkansas would have balanced our athletic department's budget.
The conference gets $2 million dollars per win. Rooting against Big East teams in the tournament is rooting against UConn's financial interests.

They go down... ? I mean, they're still losing $40M a year. How do they imagine they'll make even more money ?
yes in 2026 with the league expanding, new TV contracts, and the womens game more popular than ever the salaries are expected to go down. that's the answer you wanted, right?

The Big East money situation isn't because I didn't root for Creighton in the tourney this year. Big East has won 4 recent national championships. Are we rich yet? Have we bridged the gap? Of course not. We all know why. It's football and TV deals. We will always be inferior to power 4 when it comes to money. The SEC/Big 10 are the shot callers.
