Transfer Portal Starting to Load

Indiana does not have a player left, the entire team went into the portal without any plans on returning and their recruits decommited. Imagine this situation 10 years ago? lol.
 
Top players in the portal are demanding upwards of 4-5M for one year.

That one year will be more than the 15th pick in the NBA Draft this June for their rookie season.

They’re going to have to pull a Pope. Davries may not have recruited any of them back wanting to shift culture ASAP.

I would be all over IU players. There is some serious miscoached underutilized talent on that roster.

Our lack of activity thus far is interesting - feels like the staff is focusing on current team first, and really selective about who they get involved with. Meanwhile the SEC shows up on every decent kids list out there, even if currently playing. Two very different approaches. Will be really fascinating to how it all lands and no reason to question the staff. Last year we seemed to zone in on 3 players to get 2. I’d hope they open the net a little more. This first week seems like such an opportunity with all the top teams still playing, and one week is gone out of the shortened window.

Made the most three pointers in the country this season. For reference -
  • Jordan Hawkins 2023: 109 3PM at 38.8%
  • Solo Ball 2025: 99 3PM at 41.4%
  • Abdi Bashir Jr: 127 3PM at 38.3%
I wonder how he will do physically at a higher level. I know nothing about the kid, but 6'7 and 160lbs...sheesh. He just turned 20 so he'll have a few years to fill out the frame

I’m sure Pitino will replace him with a really strong player but that’s a BIG hole to fill

Pure speculation on my part but I thought Piton claimed he might come back before the tournament, and today he gives a quote that it's time for him to go to the NBA. I wouldn't be surprised if the RJ "camp" made an exorbitant NIL demand right after the BE tourney and burned some bridge permanently.

I just don't see how a kid that small holds up in the big east. Never seen him play though. He's Liam's height and 50lbs lighter for god's sake

Dybantsa is the only one who has gotten that much. But NIL has escalated substantially so who knows. RJ Luis is looking for $1.5 million so I don't think there's any transfer out there who is getting $5 million.

FWIW, Bashir's twin brother committed to Auburn last month from the JUCO level.

With 2s/3s Miles Kelly, Denver Jones and Chad Baker-Mazara all graduating, and considering how deep Pearl uses his bench, Auburn's pace-of-play would make sense for a slimmer 2/3 like the Bashirs.

I'd be shocked if that's all RJ Luis is getting on the open market. We're gonna have multiple guys on our roster close to that number
