Transfer Portal Starting to Load

She is as legit as they come especially so as Black female billionaire. Former UConn track athlete here. She’s a former sprinter from the Women’s team. She was reached out to when the Track and Field programs were in danger of falling victim to the athletics budget cuts and is a huge reason as to why our programs were able to weather the storm. The reason she seemed to come out of nowhere was due to how underdeveloped the Athletic Alumni fundraising programs were for a non-revenue creating sports. But have met her personally and can confirm as someone very involved with her reintroduction into the fold that her contributions and profile as a Black businesswoman are more than credible.

I was just looking her up. She has a great story... and 700 million to her name. About time UConn had a big name around.

Sounds like something we need.

Here's why Donovan Dent is a name to know

Mountain West Player of the Year Donovan Dent is putting his name into the transfer marketplace. He's a 6-foot-2 point guard with an elite feel for the game and an incredible burst and speed with the ball in his hands. He gets anywhere he wants on the court, collapses defenses and creates for himself and others.

Dent is the second five-star guard to enter the portal on Tuesday, slotting in behind Bennett Stirtz.

Dent is leaving the option open to return to New Mexico, but Richard Pitino is going to have to hold nearly every blue blood in the country to get him back.

Dent will have offers out the wazoo. I'm sure we'll reach out and make a pitch

He can choose where he wants to go - any program in the country would take him and start him. Every single one. Maybe we get lucky, but I don’t like our chances given where he’s coming from.

I wonder how many mid major portal kids reach or surpass their numbers when joining a p5 from their previous school. Such a different animal.

There are plenty of cases of that working really well. For a prime example, look no further than the last top transfer out of UNM - JT Toppin. The kid averaged 12 as a freshman at UNM and averaged 18 this year with TT as a sophomore. He was an A+ transfer get as a high producing sophomore transfer.

For my money, I would poach from high mid's like the MWC.

Our pitch should be amazing. He’d step right into being the pg on a top 10 team potentially. And he’d get the reigns of the offense. Hurley can point to Newton, cam and rese as guys he got to the league out of the portal
One downside is he is short. People on here were clamoring for taller guards all year since Diarra, Ball, and Mahaney struggled to find lobs at the rim and rollers.

Yes but he still averaged 7 assist a game. I don’t mind short if you’re a threat to put 2 feet in the paint consistently. A guy like Dent would be the exception. The problem with Hassan and Aiden is they couldn’t attack to score or dish at a high level. Especially once Hassan was down to one knee

Which is honestly silly to equate that to height.

Diarra averaged 5.7 assists this year to Cadeau's 6.2. Cadeau also averaged 3 turnovers a game and can't shoot. And is 6 feet tall. I can't imagine there would be any interest, nor should there be. I don't think they're broken up in Chapel Hill that he's leaving.

Diarra had no problems with the lob. Ball and Mahanney just werent good at it not because they were too short

I was talking about Dent

I know her personally, we arrived to UConn the same year in 1995. She ran track & I played football. She absolutely is the wealthiest black woman from Jamaica & she’s very wealthy. I don’t know her net worth but I’m sure she’s close to billionaire status. She’s the largest donor to athletics in UConn history. She’s good for the money she’s pledge to donate!
Sounds like some wealthy former basketball players may need to step forward!!!

Big name. Probably looking for big bucks. Pure point guard. Don't remember him being a particularly good shooter. Can he play D?

Cant think of a worse archetype of a player for Hurleys system and our needs going forward. Small guard who can’t shoot & turns it over at an alarming rate. In conference play, 30% of possessions w/ him on the floor result in a turnover, woooof.

Every situation is different and numbers in one offense don’t equate to another .
A couple of years ago ECU had two good young players
The leading scorer transferred to an well known ACC team
He had averaged 15 PGG at ECU
I looked at how he did in the tougher conference and he only Averagrd 12PPG . I though maybe it was the better competition but than I remembered it was Bennett and UVA
So that might be a relative gain as a % of offense.
The other kid was named Newton , I can’t remember what ever happed to him .
As for the coach that managed to recruit these building blocks , he was fired .
I would not want to be a mid major or even low. high major coach in today’s world. The deck is stacked against you .
