Is he going to profile more as a hard hedge or drop coverage P&R defender? I thought the look last season of Clingan doing one and Johnson the other made things next to impossible for other teams. Would’ve liked to see more of that mixing and matching this season but the roster was obviously more limited. If Reibe gets strong enough to defend, get us some bunnies from the rim and just shoot 30% from 3 while he's in.... he's going to have a huge impact.
Obviously a big ask. But he's got it in him.
I think this is the new way, unfortunately. I’d imagine we’ll try to bring 3-4 freshmen every year, hopefully retain 2-3 from the previous year, and then bring in portal guys to fill out. The days of having freshmen who develop and bide their time to get minutes is dead.I would hate to see Uconn turn into the Kentucky of the North. 5 new starters every year. Even the NBA doesn't have the roster turnover that college teams are experiencing.
I think one way to fix it is make players sign contracts whether it's a one year commitment or four year. Right now- every kid is a free agent every year. The schools need to have some leverage.I think this is the new way, unfortunately. Coaches don't even want to have to commit 4 years to a player, that suggestion is never gonna flyI think one way to fix it is make players sign contracts whether it's a one year commitment or four year. Right now- every kid is a free agent every year. The schools need to have some leverage.
I find it difficult to believe it will ever reach that point under Hurley. Danny preaches culture to a fault, clearly loves his kids and they appear to be willing to run through walls for him. When Kentucky was bringing in a ton of talent through revolving doors for years, it seemed more that they were stars who felt they were members of a very exclusive club, were coddled by calipari and the attraction was that they would get a ton of exposure and be seen by many NBA scouts who knew going in that they were top tier talent (or they wouldn't have been admitted to the club).I would hate to see Uconn turn into the Kentucky of the North. 5 new starters every year. Any concern with Reibe considering when he’s done up against similar or better competition it hasn’t been prettyAll those teams sagging off our center into the paint, ignoring the DHOs because we didn't have anyone that could shoot off the dribble and our center couldn't shoot are going to be in for a rude awakening with Reibe (and hopefully whomever starts at PG).
I continue to say freshman who were meant to be good players never bided their time.I think this is the new way, unfortunately. The guys you mentioned finished their careers 20 years ago. It’s a different universe now. It’s entirely possible we will add a stud portal guy for next year who takes an incoming freshmen’s minutes. The new landscape is to take the best possible player at all time. It sounds terrible but Being loyal is a dangerous thing. I mean in retrospect, would Brea have looked nice coming off the bench and giving you 8-10/gm if it meant a bench guy left then who is likely to portal now anyway?I continue to say freshman who were meant to be good players never bided their time.
I’m not even talking about the successful NBA guys either. Players like Rashad Anderson, Dehnam Brown, Jeff Adrien played often as freshmen.
Guys who are expected to eventually be big time contributors biding their time so consistently is new for this program to this era.
I'd start with fewer unreasonable fans. Can someone provide an outline of our needs for next year? Much appreciated
From the player or the school? It should be a minimum two year commitment to the school you sign with out of high school

The one thing we know we definitely need right now is a starting PG. A high-level shot creator (and maker) like Tristen or Jalen Adams more than a game manager like Hassan/Taliek.Can someone provide an outline of our needs for next year? Much appreciated
That’s the harsh reality of today’s new world. KY literally recruited an entire new team and they are in the Sweet 16.The guys you mentioned finished their careers 20 years ago. Don't love to hear that. We'll know more beyond that tomorrow, but my guess is we'll be going after a big as well.
Even prior to that we had RJ Cole and Tyrese Martin, the difference is Hurley has brought in guys who fit the culture who come in joining experienced guys who we have organically, along with Freshman. Don’t want us to go the Pitino route. We had 3 big transfers in that last title. Cam Spencer and Hass. We have Reed and Mahaney now.
I know Trilly isn't super connected on UConn news, but the numbers he's throwing out as hypotheticals for a big man entering the portal have made me numb to this comingDon't love to hear that.
Taking a bag over getting developed by Tom Moore is pretty wild considering Tom’s track record.I know Trilly isn't super connected on UConn news, but the numbers he's throwing out as hypotheticals for a big man entering the portal have made me numb to this coming
I'm skeptical he'll really be able to contribute as a freshman, but opinions seem to be split on him so I don't think it's crazy to think he willNot sold on Furphy cracking the Top 10
Furphy seems very underrated on the boneyard. I expect he will bring unexpected play making ability and toughness in addition to great perimeter shootingNot sold on Furphy cracking the Top 10
Based on past patterns. I don’t think there’s no way he cracks the rotation his first year. I’d bet very big amounts of money on it.I'm skeptical he'll really be able to contribute as a freshman, but opinions seem to be split on him so I don't think it's crazy to think he will
If you don’t have an NBA profile, you’re going to take being developed over a materially larger senior year NIL?Taking a bag over getting developed by Tom Moore is pretty wild considering Tom’s track record.
