Transfer Portal Starting to Load

People in Queens are funny about it- if they have lived “in the city” before moving to Queens they don’t consider it to be NYC yet people who move there from elsewhere consider it part of the city
Lived in Astoria for 6 years….it both is and is not the city

When someone dangles a 7 figure NIL bag in front of him, he'll enter the portal. To think he wouldn't entertain out of loyalty to the current coach is ridiculously short sighted. Separately, why wouldn't he at least entertain a program where he could actually win a NC?

Being a star in NYC is exponential the stage that being a star anywhere else is. If a kid is drawn to the bright lights, StJ for a year would be a pretty cool place to play under Pitino. During a middling year, not so much.
But then it would not be college if they were not ridiculously short sighted….

Stirtz is so good, he’s always under control against these much more talented teams. Really impressed with his poise and ability to get to his spots, all while having the entire gameplan focusing on him. If he doesn’t follow his coach, would be a massive get.

Hard pass on Luis, injury prone, crazy expensive, and terrible shot selection that doesn’t fit in our offense.

If he wants to take a hard discount, make it worth it for us.

This year we have struggled defending on the perimeter. More height is helpful in defending the three but may mean less ability to stay in front of their man to prevent penetration.
On offense, we struggled against pressure defense and we have lacked someone who can penetrate and dish or score. Height may help somewhat with ability to finish at the rim but usually means less ability to penetrate.
IMHO ball-handling and lateral quickness/ability to stop an opponent who is good at penetration are the two most important qualities we need. Newell may be able to improve I these areas, as he limited limiting by injuries and lack of PT this year. However, I think someone like a little taller Devion Smith is what we need.
Newell needs to initiate the offense much quicker. He tends to dribble for far too long.

Agree just have a gut feeling if the coach get the Iowa job he follows him there

Yeah, good chance that happens. Think for his professional career chances in the NBA, he’d be better off getting in a more proven system like UConn has and their ability to put guys in the league. But, certainly wouldn’t blame him for following McCollum, there is some risk for him leaving. Plus he’s the guy who recruited and developed him.

St John's had 5 assists today as a team, that is hard to do. Pitino talked about not sharing the ball, that was pointed right at Luis, who had no assists.
Also had 28 offensive rebounds which often result in unassisted baskets

Does anybody know how Stirtz grades out defensively according to the metrics
