I hope whoever is the PPP (portal pickup point guard) that he is an eager and excellent shooter- Hass is great but he doesn’t shoot or score enough from outside. Opponents can leave him alone for most part and concentrate on stopping the other shooters. Oh, and please be taller too

Does anybody know how Stirtz grades out defensively according to the metrics
He’s solid there. Against top 100 opponents, he’s grading out 1.9 DPBM, which is very respectable. Hes not Andre Jackson/Steph Castle on ball defender, shut down the toughest assisngmenf. But eye test and numbers suggest he can more than hold his own on that end. He’s also an impressive 72% at the rim, that’s insane for a point guard. Hes really good and fills that Tristen Newton type role perfectly,

He's also playing 39 mpg. I bet those defensive numbers could improve with 30 mpg

His RAPM and BPR put him in the middle of his team, which is a strong defensive team.

But Mahaney has taught us that just because you're on a good defensive team doesn't mean you will be respectable defensively. Mahaney was last on his team, though, and Stirtz has a much better steal rate in addition to being taller. But he does need to put on weight.

McCollum to Iowa as suspected. Will Stirtz follow? We'll find out this week in all likelihood. He's certainly not winning a title there, and it's unlikely best NIL gig. I don't think it's his wisest choice, but we'll see.

Imo we need a point guard that can create and drive the ball, a rim protecting center that can rebound, and a couple of forwards that are athletic, can create, and are able to defend and show toughness and athleticism. We need more dawgs that can create and lock down. The roster this year was too “euro ball” and got away from the main UConn identity. We need lunch pail guys like Cam, Andre, and T Newt. I have faith in this staff that they’ll be driven to correct and find what the roster needs. We will be back in short order.

Should be an exciting offseason. The staff will rectify errors and ensure that next year we have a team that plays as hard in every game as they did in this last game. So which of our assistant coaches are we in real danger of losing? Kimani and Luke are being considered for every other job according to the internets, but is there a good chance we keep one or both?

We probably need one transfer that can make the rotation if no one leaves or stays that we expected to leave for the NBA. We have 3 top guards and a center coming in. Without further prohibited speculation, assume at least Ball and Reed are coming back that's 5 players even if only 2 of the freshmen guards make the rotation plus at least 3-4 other guys on the roster that we'd expect contributions from. The biggest question will be at PG, can the 2 veterans coexist with the new guys. It will be messy and unproductive to think about it until all the decisions are made by the team and players.

As of right now, we will need to find some rebounding. We'll have enough bodies one way or another in the backcourt and the 5 spots seems to be in good shape.

There are very few Donovans obviously, but finding rim protection in that stratosphere would help in so many ways, especially if our perimeter guys aren't great at stopping penetration.

I assume that, just not speculating on it. if you do the math, there are not a lot of minutes for non-rotation guys to break into the rotation assuming some of the 5-star freshman are going to play and Ball is going to play a lot of minutes.

Hard to imagine a world where Mullins isn't playing and Reibe isn't backing up Reed for 15 mpg. Furphy and Adams will all depend on how their S&C work goes during the summer.

All those teams sagging off our center into the paint, ignoring the DHOs because we didn't have anyone that could shoot off the dribble and our center couldn't shoot are going to be in for a rude awakening with Reibe (and hopefully whomever starts at PG).

If Reibe gets strong enough to defend, get us some bunnies from the rim and just shoot 30% from 3 while he's in.... he's going to have a huge impact.

Obviously a big ask. But he's got it in him.

Is he going to profile more as a hard hedge or drop coverage P&R defender? I thought the look last season of Clingan doing one and Johnson the other made things next to impossible for other teams. Would’ve liked to see more of that mixing and matching this season but the roster was obviously more limited.

I would hate to see Uconn turn into the Kentucky of the North. 5 new starters every year. Even the NBA doesn't have the roster turnover that college teams are experiencing.
I think this is the new way, unfortunately. I’d imagine we’ll try to bring 3-4 freshmen every year, hopefully retain 2-3 from the previous year, and then bring in portal guys to fill out. The days of having freshmen who develop and bide their time to get minutes is dead.

We were involved in his initial recruitment. Will Danny take from Bobby?

I think one way to fix it is make players sign contracts whether it's a one year commitment or four year. Right now- every kid is a free agent every year. The schools need to have some leverage.
