Transfer Portal Starting to Load

I am all in on Isaiah Coleman from Seton Hall when he hits the portal. 6'5" 190lbs. Same build as Tristen Newton. Good defender, great rebounder. Draws a lot of contact and gets to the FT line. Shooting %'s weren't great but he was taking a lot of tough shots because he literally had zero help from his teammates. Scored 16PPG in the Big East as a sophomore so you know he can play at this level.

He's gotta be our guy. Can't let Pitino swoop in and steal him to replace Kadary.

What role does he play for us? He isn't a passer like Newton who will lead the team

Trilly said a few days ago that even if UConn is interested they'll be behind Georgetown and Louisville

I think his assist numbers are a product of Seton Hall being atrocious

I agree to an extent. It probably depends where we want to play him. He's not the PG/PF that we're going to spend the bulk of our NIL resources on. I'd love to see him compete with Stewart for that swing spot though.

I don’t see the Newton comp at all. Coleman averaged under 2 assists a game

Yeah exactly. I don't see the Newton comparison at all. Also, I don't know this for a fact, but I would bet $100 that Hurley has an honor code in that he won't take transfers from other Big East teams and if that is true, he certainly won't take from his buddy Shaheen that coaches at Hurley's alma mater.

If that's true it's silly. Could you imagine how much better this team would've been with Kadary Richmond?

BTW, if this scrub gets anywhere near that amount for NIL, it’s more out of control than we even suspected.

Well, with the changes coming to NIL I think he will be lucky to get even 50K from Texas. Texas is going to be focusing on their Football program. I actually wonder if that will help schools like UConn who focus more on Men's and Women's Basketball than they do on Football or other athletics.

Texas can shake the couch cushions out and have enough to bury any Big East schools.

Guys I think I found one!

That being said, he was a perfect 4/4 from 3pt this year vs the 2x defending National Champs.

That Rob guy is a troll account

This. Painter hasn't been to a national championship game for almost 12 months now, and Shaka hasn't been ranked since what -- last week?

Yes, I do know that the college hoops world is changing, and that we live in a society that wants instant conclusions on everything, but could we allow things a little time to play out? Because I'll tell you this -- if every staff is following the same strategy, those with less resources are likely to lose.
Your last line, "those with less resources are likely to lose", couldn't be more on target

The B1G and SEC have it all lined up to take over all sports. Increases in the numbers of scholarships, NIL, and now we have Revenue Sharing. Someone posted a link to an article on the amount of NIL and the likely Revenue Sharing number for all schools and it isn't pretty for the future of "amateur" sports in colleges.

Pitino's proving it this year with $3.5 M and I'd guess the success some B1G (maryland?) and SEC schools (MSSt.)

I've tried to remain positive about UConn's future, but the rapid takeover of football and now basketball by those two leagues is sobering to say the least. How are the majority of the Big East schools going to compete against the money flowing into those two leagues? Two or three bids will likely be the limit for the Big East in the next 3-5 years.

May be even a bigger problem on the women's side. There's UConn and Creighton and...................Remember what UConn's success did for the Big East 35 years ago? The other teams used UConn as a draw for recruiting but that's over. Sure, there might be a kid or two who will want to play for their home school or who know they have no pro future so they stay more local, but all the power will shift to the money schools. Sad to say I've become so negative but maybe there's some positive I'm just not seeing that will turn it around.

Please and thank you. 3 years eligiblity too? Freak athlete, great shooter, decent size. Dropped 21 on BYU. 23% assist rate suggests he could be a PG. Seems to create off the dribble some. 99%ile catch and shoot player. Sign me tf up

Florida is losing Clayton, and lots of others with big bank accounts will be all over him. Not sure we have the "resources" to compete for players like this.

1 year left. He was a 3 year JUCO who got an extra year of eligibility like all the JUCOs from a court case.

Ahh, makes him a much less enticing prospect in that case

You’d think the sophomore portal kid may be the most attractive profile out there - first, two years of tape. Second you get them for two years. Also maybe not as enticing to transfer a second time vs sitting put and at least some stability. And are you more or less attractive as a player on that third stop? Have we even seen that work? Storr has been a nightmare - it just says something about the kid. I could if you go low 1 to mid to high, to high sure. What a weird college experience it must be to transfer more than once.
