To AK's point, a player like Freeman (as a former 5-star) should be focusing more on who gets him to the league (and the big money) more than who is paying him a couple of million dollars more over the next two years.

If someone offers you 'a couple of million dollars more' to do the same job, you need to consider that very seriously.

This will shock some people, but there are 450-500 people who played in the NBA this year and like eight of them went to UConn. There's plenty of ways to get there - there's no magical portal in Storrs.

I guess I missed your prefacing comment: "And a few delusional words for former Husky Alex Karaban trying to explain why it was wise for him to throw away a ton of money to play for UConn so long. Perhaps his mother was right and he should have picked a better school for academics so he could understand how stupid he sounds right now."

I didn't say it had to be UConn. But he was a 5-star thinking NBA future and it would behoove him to try to regain some of that stock at whatever school he chooses.

Choosing Syracuse wasn't a shrewd move though (and I am going to be he wasn't motivated by their superior coaching).

Edit to add that I have already said to all the people laughing about Rob Wright III transferring yet again that he is handling it correctly. Make the most money possible when the NBA isn't likely in your future.

I LOVE that the Big12 doesn't have a Top 5 team in that Nielsen viewership. Seems we would bring some eyes to that conference.

You might think the B1G might like UConn and Duke.

Very intelligent insights by Alex about the long term money finding the guys who do things the right way basketball wise. Unfortunately, the short term can be another story with guys trying to make the quick buck. Hard to blame their impulse since the money may seem significant but early in one’s career building a strong foundation is the key.
