Saw some coaches followed him. Anyone have a clue if we have a legit shot?

With two open scholarships, I think he would bring some much needed offensive production and maturity.

A 6"7" guard who can shoot - very interesting

what position does he play? is he a wing that can break down defenses off the dribble (which we need) or is he a big that can score (which we also need) or both? all i know is he cant shoot 3s

edit- based on the video below he has a good midrange game. swished a half dozen or so elbow jumpers, a turnaround and a pull up. would be a big offensive upgrade over whaley at PF

I think he’s be a good get but where are we getting the idea that he can shoot? He’s never made a three pointer in his college career.

idk watch the video. most of his points were coming from mid range jumpers. his 20 ppg cant all be layups/dunks/free throws

Kid can play. Has a decent looking stroke so it’s a little odd to see his 3 point volume virtually non-existent. He’s 80% from the line on 6 attempts a game this year too.

That’s the thing...anything from 3?

"As of now he has heard from Cincinnati, UConn, Wake Forest, Arizona, UNLV, San Diego State, Tennessee, St. Bonaventure, Western Kentucky, Washington, and Arkansas...."

"I'm probably going to narrow it to a top six or top seven within the next couple of weeks for sure,” he said. “I'm thinking of a decision date around my birthday which is May 11th"

the tweet is misleading. cutting his list on 3/20 and a decision in may

The article is a few days old

If the staff likes him so do I. Could be a great addition on the defensive end. Martin won’t really cut it at the 4 against some team, this dude is both big and athletic enough to do it. Much needed help at the 4 IMO.

I like him on experience alone at a level higher than prep or HS... BUT our problems on offense is when we get stagnant in half court sets ... or settle for WTF jump shots from guys who shouldn't be shooting them...

even if akok is 100% next year (not sure i'd bet all my money on that yet) we only have 2 other legit big men on the roster in sanogo and samson, who's a freshman

The foul line area where he was scoring from is exactly where we need a reliable shooter. Hitting from there opens up so much for everybody else. 75 foul shots in 12 games is doing damage to the other team's front court. Making 80% on that volume is a bonus and useful holding onto leads. Shooting 51% from 2 with the mix in that game clip is solid. 21 pts game and 10.3 rebounds. What is the downside? Seems like an excellent target.

Definitely love his length and athleticism. 3s can come from elsewhere.

Given Covid, do we have a scholarship available?

Yes. Any senior who stays won't take up a scholly.
Is that how it works? I just thought that this year didn’t count towards the play four in five rule.

So this year‘s juniors don’t get an extra year or at least have to fit within standard scholarship limits, but this year seniors don’t count?

This guy is a poor man's Shonn Miller. Strong midrange game that would be useful to this year's team.

he's a zone buster. put bramah at the foul line with sanogo on the baseline surrounded by 3 shooters

I understand it's hard to recruit high school this year with covid, but I'd like to see us limiting going after transfers and bring that UConn brotherhood back.

If there's a need I'm all for it, just hope the staff is looking at seniors in high school first. Get us a guy from Europe.

I disagree. There have been many players in the program that transferred in or only stayed a couple years that are UConn legends. The idea that if they don't come in as freshman then they can't be part of the "brotherhood" would be the worst tactic that Dan Hurley and staff could adopt. They need to go get the best talent they can, period. The kid can be from Buffalo, Bridgeport, Dalzell, Houston, Tel Aviv, Port Chester, Flint, Minneapolis and stay as long as they like, as long as they give us all they have while here.

Top-3: St. Bonaventure, Nevada and Western Kentucky

Would rather play for a quality mid-major team while still getting good minutes instead of playing for a top-flight school and potentially being a bench role. Totally respectable decision and either of these three teams will get a starter or strong rotation player.

As all three teams stand, WKU is his best shot at getting PT with Caron Williams and Josh Anderson graduating. Would slot nicely at the 4 spot.

Moving on...
