Utah St was playing scared of Edey. Too many contested long 2s.

Marquette would have a lot of the same issues against Purdue if the refs call it like this. Wonder if Burns would be allowed to box him out.

lol, Purdue is beating USU’s a.s.s right now. Purdue gets some calls but this lead is not the refs.
Right and USU wildly threw it out of bounds on 3 straight drives, and they missed 3 fts and an open layup. USU making enough mistakes, I know this might shock some people but Purdue is just better.

2 Things are true:

Purdue is good.

They get an insanely friendly whistle.

They’re too good to be getting a whistle like that. That’s what makes it infuriating

After two 3s from their worst shooter on the team, USU finally gets a shot at the rim with Edey out… and now here he comes back in.

What a waste.

They aren’t even good. It’s literally just Edey.

Could Donovan challenge Edey?

Not with the whistle they both get. And Edey would devour Johnson

And USU has made self inflicted mistakes themselves and Purdue is just better.

I pretty much despise everyone on Purdue EXCEPT Zach Edey. He is a helluva player and a great kid.

The rest of them can all burn in hell.

It's good thing Clingan is showing signs of mobility he had last year as seen in his increase in lobs. Tiring him out by rim running and keeping him in motion seems to be the only antidote. You can't pretend to be Patrick Ewing against him.

Martinez

Edey is tough to hold when he pivots and drops to basket. I'm not sure Donovan could hold his ground.
Do you let Edey get his and shut down everyone else? That might be the game plan.

Stick to the shooters and let Edey get as many 2’s as he wants. While attacking him and making him move in defense to hopefully get him either tired out or in foul trouble

Bad Take
Everything on their teams revolves around him being unstoppable. Other guys are hardly making plays without Edey getting them wide open looks. Teams can’t get to the rim because of him either.

The other guys simply have to convert wide open looks he gets them and they can hardly do that.

To beat them, you just have to have a center good enough to neutralize him and keep him from gettin the ball. I’m not worried at all about that with Don.

Edy is 3rd year Clingan, meaning his experience is the difference. He just seems to never put up weak shots even when players are hanging on his arm. Just saying Clingan next year could also be NPOY candidate. (I know its not happening)

Clingan would be on the bench with 2 fouls by the first tv timeout. And pick up his 3rd foul less than a minute into the second half.
