After two exhibition games and a lot of analysis and prognostication, we are finally ready for the season. Here are my top 3 things for the opener:

1) Azzi to show that she ain't no second team anything.

2) A true inside post game with several put backs.

3) Run baby run.

You had all summer to think about this. What are yours?

I'm focused on improvements by the newer players and scoring from the PG position.

1. Blanca makes better shoot, pass, dribble decisions, thereby reducing her TOs and increasing her scoring and assists.

2. One of the PGs—KK, K9 or Fish—scores efficiently in double figures.

3. Allie Z continues to earn high minutes by being a scoring threat at all three levels and defending competently.

Agree with these comments with this to add:
-Put backs: Would like to see the bigs, particularly Jana, Williams, and Yanna, use their height. In the two exhibition games, they often struggled getting the 2-4 footer over players 2-3+ inches shorter. Instead of just throwing the ball up, mimicking Strong's repeatable form would be a good sign.
-Blanca: slow down and show some basketball moves. Great potential as she learns that many other players know how to compete with physical competition.
-Set up some plays for Allie. While she is getting her shots, suspect that against the better teams, they will know who the shooters are a move their defense out further. Allie is driving move, a skill that will open up more opportunities. Few outside shooters on subs list make this impt.

1. Good three point defense. The three pointer is what allowed Boston college to avoid a 40 point loss. If Louisville hits a ton of those… they could keep the game interesting.

2. Assists versus turnovers. I think point guard play is something to keep an eye on. Are we going to register a lot of assists this game? Are we going to keep our turnovers low?

3. The Ice versus Jana playing time battle. I want to see how these two players look in this game. I hope they both play well of course.

The time is listed at 5:30. Does that suggests a 'normal' type of introduction with tip-off
around 5:40.....or a more longer look at the game and the location followed by tip-off
around 6:00?

Real hoops...yes!

Easy.. I want to see Defense. Thas all... DEFENSE from the jump. Uconn's defense can completely neutralize opponents for most of the game. By then, the damage is done, and Uconn is up by 30. Their defense takes so much pressure off their offensive game, which translates to open Fudds by the 3line, or a sick pass to a slasher going to the basket.

In conclusion, DEFENSE.
