Well, better defense will not be one of my 3 things today after that complete shutdown in Tampa in the first half. However, I do have my wishes and here they are:

1) KK, K9, Caroline, Allie, Ash and Blanca to make their shots from the arc and to gain confidence as solid 3 point threats. It makes us indefensible.

2) Serah to build on her last game going to her left and to hit double figures in scoring while Jana also contributes in the 5 position.

3) No let up in the third quarter even if we are up 25. It can be a costly habit to get into.

What are yours?

#1. I want to see both Jana and Serah strike fear into the heart of anyone trying to drive to the net.

#2. I want to see Ashlynn, KK and K-9 make the players from the other team dread being the one attempting to throw the ball in bounds.

#3. I want to see the coach on the other team pulling their hair out trying to figure out which Huskie to guard outside the 3 point line.

DePaul is actually way worse than Xavier. Not sure what I want out of this game.

1. No injuries.
2. Minutes for Kelis, Allie, Blanca, and Heckel. I think they all have a lot of potential.
3. Maybe a promising update on ice or Morgan or both during the Saturday interview with Geno?

1. Serah Williams to start scoring more- so far on the season, she’s averaging 7.4 points per game. I think with Big East season beginning, it’ll be perfect opportunity for her to get more familiar with UConn system.
2. Ash to get more than 10 points.
3. Jana to score in double figures to boost her confidence

-K9 to show if she can play shut down defense. Her limited offensive skills are impressive but she will get more minutes demonstrating her ability to stop opposition guards.
-Blanca to show she can make a driving layup while guarded (and not run over the defender). Yes, she is a frosh and doing a better job of matching her overall speed to the game, but this is a basic skill. Some see this as a nit compared to her overall skill set but this is UConn and an extra basket may be the difference at the end of the year.
-Caroline to get into the game earlier. She seems so focused on having to be perfect, particularly with her 3 pointers, that hopefully Geno can help her relax. We may need her later in the year when it really counts.

At least five minutes for Caroline in the first half, and 10+ points for the game including a couple of threes

5 threes from Allie

15 minutes+ for the Big Fish
As to Carol, from your lips......In Tampa she seemed more intent on the newer players like Kelis and Ay( based on experience) getting into the flow. She is very selfless out there but I would also love to see her have a really good scoring game.

I think K9 is a very strong defender and that she has a much wider offensive game than KK. K9 has a true pull up jumper and is an opportunistic driver and cutter. Her 3 does need to be consistent but I think that is coming. KK is the best PG defender in the country probably, but K9 is much better than you imply.

I also think Blanca can drive on anyone and as long as she slows her speed to the defender, such as that gorgeous spin move against USF, she should be fine. Before, the spin move was susceptible to a charge because she was so far past the defender that all that had to happen was someone to step in. The restricted zone is gone so she has to be careful.

I watched Carol closely against USF while at the game and she is very much prioritizing her floor game but I totally agree that she can be a real difference if she gets some consistency scoring.

1. Better outside shooting
2. Keep stealing the ball
3. K-9 drives more to the basket

There is a disparity here between the good teams UConn plays and those lesser teams. Asking what you'd like to see against any opponent depends upon whom we're playing. Great defense or offense against relatively helpless opponents isn't as meaningful as the quality of games we play against contenders.
Truth is we can do pretty much whatever we want against some and experience resistance elsewhere. Big difference.
All we can see against DePaul, for example, is a glorified scrimmage. But if I had to choose one thing, it'd be to see a lot more of Blanca and Kelis.

Doug on the sidelines looking healthy.
As DePaul's Special Assistant to the Vice President/Director of Athletics for Women’s Basketball, does he usually travel with the team?
If he doesn't, maybe he will make a special trip to see his buddy.

I'm pretty sure that Doug's duties as the Special Assistant to the VP/Director of Athletics for Women's Basketball consist of the following: do anything you want to, don't do anything you care not to do, let us know what you want to do and give us a heads up if you come into the office so we can have fresh coffee brewed.

KK is the best defender in the country? She is certainly excellent, but the rest of the country includes Hidalgo and Harmon.

1) Ice Brady back and healthy
2) Refs letting azzi get away with running over the other teams players
3) Allie Z raining threes

I'd take KK as a PG defender over both of them. All around player? Not at all.
